it's the way all gaming companies are going.....
Rising costs of education + Increased Demand for skilled game designers = Smaller Profit Margin
Oh you might say they can afford a smaller profit margin with how much they make?!
Wrong. No matter how much anyone makes most people still live paycheck to paycheck. Why?
Because if I already bought my 10 million dollar home not only do I need to keep paying it off I also need to continue making the same amount of money for property taxes which will rise and rise continuously for the rest of my life.
So, they have 2 choices. Sell you a $600 game or release it in parts for years.
Get over it.

What I tend to believe is that, there in peaices for more money yes, but compare games today to games 20, 30 years ago, the prices where quite similar, excluding a few. With games today have hundred times more content then 30 years ago for the same price, it makes sense they would want to raise the price, except if they started charging 100 bucks for a normal game, everyone will get angry, so they do the game in pieces

1 返信Yes. Trilogies like halo would be considered "half games" because end in cliffhangers. Also inflation, 60 bucks has been the standard for a really long time.

1 返信If they can't afford the upkeep of a 10mil house and still live paycheck to pay check, they should have gone for a smaller house. Their overendulgence does not justify us paying more to them for less content. They have to be just as responsible with their money as anybody else.

"People still live paycheck to paycheck". Haha ya 10 thousand dollar paychecks. Just because they pay for a $1 million house doesn't mean they have to live paycheck to paycheck. You sound like every other ignorant rich guy who doesn't understand that living In a 1 million dollar house isn't a necessity and screwing over lower class people to spend even more money just so that guy on top can continue to live in his $1 million house is downright bullshit. This entire country is a giant scam for the rich. If your on the bottom to go farther to the bottom, if your on top you go farther to the top. The rich get richer and the poor stay poor. This OP is the exact example of the shit heads that this country is based off of.

Increased demand that outstrips technology and expertise+more demanding work hours paid for less and more strenuous projects leading to a dip in willing talent+bloated budgets to meet that demand leading to less risks+market inflation meaning games are cheaper than they've ever been leading to a single failed game having the potential to bankrupt the company=some companies doing everything they can to get games out faster and for the cheap, also leading to interest in DLC. Case in point: THQ. Their final lineup of games had all the signs of cut corners and desperation, Darksiders 2 being a prime example. There is an impossible pressure on game developers these days and as demand increases it will only get worse, leading to what may be an inevitable implosion and crash.

3 通の返信Not entirely wrong. People fail to realize games have been $60 for a looooong time. Game production value has increased dramatically since then, and as such Companies need more income from DLC.

6 通の返信I'm thinking you should actually do some research, instead of just spouting the crap your brain tells you to say lol.

6 通の返信Im sorry but are you actually defending companies selling games in pieces. My god what has the world come too. Like buying a full priced car with no wheels

2 通の返信Naw, it is because one company did it and saw how easy it is to fool their consumers. So then everyone else saw what was going on so they wanted to get rich to.

PizzaMan725により編集済み: 8/20/2015 1:50:25 PMI'd go with that games are just vastly different from when they were 10+ years ago. A complete game just doesn't have the same meaning anymore. Companies need to have so much packed into them, and for it all to be working and even if it does people still might not like the final product because they've been waiting since it was announced and have over exaggerated ideas on what the game should have.

2 通の返信Maybe they shouldn't buy a 10 million dollar home? Why can't you live modestly, a nice house, not over the top. That's what's wrong with this world.
