Dear Bungie So like many around here these parts, I came to Destiny with a Halo mentality. I ADORE Halo - easily my favourite gaming series of all time. I took part in the Destiny beta and loved my time with the game; the mechanics were simply outstanding. So imagine my horror when I played the game and found the story was...well let's be kind and say "not great." I played a few hours in that first week (never got to level 20) but it didn't grab me. The mechanics were still top notch, the art work work beautiful, but that story arc did nothing for me. I kept asking myself - how did the guys and gals that made Halo get it so wrong. So move forward about 8 months - I touched the game once in that time for an hour or so. A friend on Xbox 360 was playing (yes on my advice - he liked Borderlands so I knew he would love this) and was most insistent I get a copy and play with him (I had PS4 version). And then it clicked; that damn story is still an issue but if one accepts the reason for the story is to shoot and loot the game opens up. And yes, the advice that the "game only starts at level 20" is very true. Once I reached that everything changed. Heck I now play both versions simultaneously! Why did it click - because I stopped comparing it to Halo. I say again...I LOVE Halo. And every time I played I was saying mistakenly to myself - why is this not like that, etc...to my own detriment! So great job on a great game. Of course there are issues, every game has them (no matchmaking in Raids is a real pity for me). Does it beat Halo - well no, but then nothing ever will probably and that has more to do with nostalgia than anything else truth be told. Oh and personally I think the light level system is brilliant - it will be a pity to see it go in The Taken King. Thought you would like to read a post that starts off critically but shows how a game can win one over. It did me!
