This about sums up some of the vulgar messages Dames of Destiny received. I rarely make posts on this forum but today I felt the need to.
Having played with a few Dames on LFG and asking them about their clan so I could have an informed opinion I found out what the Dames of Destiny are all about.
It takes no longer than 10 mins of scrolling this forum to see that women by a portion of this community are regularly belittled and receive a substantial amount of abuse. That is not to say all the community do, but there is a portion. Dames of Destiny (from my understanding) was created so women had an environment where they could play the game without the risk of receiving abusive comments. Not only this, they also provide a safe environment for younger female players to play free from abuse or bigotry.
I cannot understand why people are playing the sexist card in relation to them or defending some of the comments expressed by certain individuals of the community.
If this community was filled with racist remarks would you be surprised to see clans appear that were free from racism?
I have seen several clans created which are under 16's because they feel safer playing with their age group than a more mature player is this wrong?
My clan is UK based only because logistically it is easier to play with UK based players. Are you feeling aggrieved by this?
I also play with fellow veterans in veteran only clans because they provide a relaxed environment where members can speak freely knowing other members have shared the same experiences. Is that unacceptable as well?
Personally i'm disgusted by the comments i've read and i'm well aware it's a small minority who were involved. This community has done some great things when we've come together. Standing up against bigotry should be one.
Before I get the usual 'white knight' and 'wannabe hero' comments, I wouldn't class myself as either. Having served in both Afghanistan and Iraq however, I believe in standing up against bigotry even in the face of adversity.
I'm also aware that the Dames of Destiny are more than capable of defending themselves but it doesn't mean we as a community should stand by.
Be strong enough to stand alone, be yourself enough to stand apart, but be wise enough to stand together when the time comes

Edit - Just to make clear to some of you who are jumping to false presumptions, not once in my post have I mentioned the twitch feed regarding wishyouluck. Take two seconds to look through this post and you will several comments telling the dames to go suck something. This post and a lot of my previous are anit-bigotry in all forms. Regardless if I witness homophobia, racism, sexism etc. If you take two minutes to have a look at them you will see this. It just so happens that the Dames are relevant at this moment in time and i'm disgusted by some of the comments I have read.

2 通の返信I feel creating a "safe" place is not needed. I am a women and have gone into everything with randoms for the majority of my Destiny playtime. I have only ever had 2 problems with certain people who have been dealt with swiftly using the block option. All these reports of being harassed all the time I think are very exaggerated. Of course though, having the spotlight on them opens up that to everyone, so I could understand the comments and stuff. But if you take that all seriously, I don't think your cut out for online gaming. It will be the same anywhere you go. Someone could call me names in a message, I'll just laugh it off and then block and/or report. Such a simple solution. Soon you will find friends who don't give a crap what you are, these are the keepers. I also meet more friends from the friends I already made who are just as cool as they are.

1 返信Disclaimer: I post this in every thread I see about the whole thing, so this is never intentionally aimed at anyone. I just like to put myself out there and hopefully people will weigh in with some insightful, interesting, and civil conversation. This entire incident has served one good purpose for me. It's served as an example of sociological issues that result from an us vs them mentality. I feel that everyone should learn not to see each other as black, White, Asian, Hispanic, male, female, etc but rather as humans. It's also quite interesting for me to see the double standards being perpetuated in the name of equality. Do I feel that what was said on the stream was good in any way, no. I didn't find it funny, entertaining, or for the benefit of anyone. However, it has brought many of the "other" side out, screaming accusations of bigotry, sexism, and racism, but not at those who it would be worth talking to. I feel that the sphere of what is "politically incorrect" has expanded far beyond what should be acceptable, while simultaneously maintaining many blind spots. Everyone can be prejudiced and so you cannot say that putting someone down for being white or male isn't it's own form of racism or sexism. I will end with the fact that I see many saying you cannot create a clan of all males as that is perpetuating a sexist society, but not an all female clan, which is empowering and just. I can expand more on any of this, but I wish to be concise and not waste my time of nobody will read this.

3 通の返信Sexism is discrimination based on someone's sex. Creating an all female clan and saying it's to create a safe environment for young "girl gamers" operates under the assumption that guys = unsafe. By definition, this is textbook sexism. Why not simply create a clan dedicated to respectful players? You disrespect someone? You get kicked. Instilling within young females the belief that they need to be sheltered from all men in order to be safe is... Sexist. I'm not sure why people fail to understand why the sexist card is being used. It's sexism, plain and simple. Sure there's a handful of extremely disrespectful male players. There's also a handful of extremely disrespectful female players. There's always a handful in any group who make the larger group look bad. There just tends to be a much higher percentage of male gamers so it's always going to seem like the small percentage of women are the victims of a male dominated gaming society. Percentage-wise, females will always be discriminated because there are fewer of them. By numbers though, more men are disrespected, daily.
Thank you got your service.
1 返信I like how women want to have the same rights as men but yet they have to make a clan to segregate themselves from the rest of the community. Because they are to fragile to listen to some scrutiny. If that's the case they don't need to play a game where the majority of the community is men. My wife plays on xbox and when a guy hits on her she just laughs it off. When a guy says something rude to her she gives it right back and that's what I love about her . She's not afraid to say what's on her mind or talk shit to someone who is saying rude shit to her but she also crys when ever we watch any movie where she thinks the main character is going to die. I think there in lays the problem women's emotional capacity is really low so whenever someone says something just joking around they take it as an insult. I have a gay friend who plays Destiny and I talk shit to him all the time and he does the same to me but just because he likes butt sex doesn't make him any less of a man then me and it sure as hell doesn't make me better then him.

1 返信On behalf of the community I sincerely apologise for the rampart abundance of members today expressing an apology for the multiple apologies issued here on the forum. Hopefully you will all no longer have to hear of more apologies for apologies of apologies delivered by apologetic guardians. May this apologue serve as a reminder against such contrite behavior. My sincerest apologies

The suck my balls and other dumb comments aren't the problem. That guy just wanted attention and he got it. The people threatening the dames are the ones who need to be dealt with. They are scum and should be treated as such.

4 通の返信This is why the game needs to be rated mature... and have an age limit to using the site. It will not keep everyone out, but I would bet it's this generation's lack of good or decent parents that may be the problem. So if your a kid and reading this, I'm saying that your parents/legal guardians failed to raise you right.

2 通の返信My wife and I play together so I see first hand what assholes send in their friend request . Since we're older gamers we look at it as typical pubescent bs. However there are predators out there, whether you want to believe it or not, and I can see the need for a safe place for girls to game together. Nothing wrong with that, and those boys who find a problem with that need to grow up.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.....it's reminds me of this historical text. Someone needs to stand up to stop this disgusting nonsense or soon there will be nothing BUT this disgusting nonsense. Thanks for the post, and screw the "white knight" comments.
