I really need a sane explanation as to why the black hammer is being nerfed. I don't think Bungie has even seen a good video of someone abusing a black hammer against a boss other than the vehicle bosses and Sepiks Prime. As a user of the black hammer in PVE I can safely say the weapon is perfectly balanced as is. When using the Black Hammer you have to carefully time your shots into a bosses critical spot to make sure you get the white nail perk. Two factors are a guarantee problem if trying to use it. 1. Unless you can stun lock the boss, the boss WILL target you as the primary target for its attacks. This makes it not only harder to land hits, but also most of the bosses do such a large amount of damage I have to finish my white nail if I can before getting away. 2. Every boss has adds that spawn. If even one add attacks you as you are pulling the trigger, you completely screw up the white nail chain. This happens VERY OFTEN if you are not paying attention. The only way to use the Black Hammer effectively is in a squad in two different situations if you can't stun lock the boss. 1. Two or more players are using it and one is able to stay on target as the other is getting shot at by the boss. 2. How my team works it is that one player focuses on clearing adds away from our sniper and hope that my teammate is able to maximize his damage before the boss decides to hate him. I propose instead of butchering the only reason why the black hammer is good for good snipers is to have different nerfs. 1. Decrease the capabilities of the weapon to stun a boss. The fact that the archon priest is so easy to stun lock with a single bullet is why its so effective on him. If it no longer stun locks after one shot it can easily teleport to the sniper and screw up his white nail. 2. Decrease the total amount of special ammo the Black Hammer can carry. Bring it down to 6 or 9 and this makes it only possible to use the black hammer when you have at least 50% of your ammo. This stresses the importance of the white nail perk.
