My theory.
The reason we do not have matchmaking in raids is due to the year one raid schema... Checkpoints.....
I believe that the matchmaking they currently does not have the ability to parameterize checkpoints.
Being a tripA developer tho they cannot admit to this short coming in their development. Thus the "philosophy" was born.
Now what does that have to do with PoE not having check points?
I'm glad you asked.
Bungie thought giving PoE 28 matchmaking would placate the pro matchmaking masses. But ultimately removed their ability to out checkpoints in 32-34-35 because again, schema.
Bungie cannot fight their framework. They're bound by rules of their design and unfortunately their design has flaws.
That's just my theory tho.
Edit: VoG/CE normal could be an experiment for the matchmaking debate. The current outcry for matchmaking far exceeds the outcry that brought about the weekly heroic matchmaking update. Even their "philosophy" is not an excuse for those trivial dungeons/modes. I believe this is further evidence to my conclusion.

3 通の返信I think Bungie didn't add matchmaking to the high level things because they wanted to foster community. In the end I think that was the wrong move due to the amount of content they have been adding, but I'm sure Bungie reasoned that people would feel more invested in the game if they spent the time to build community and a network of people. I think that did work for a while, but as those networks started to whither, people just started leaving instead of working to build new networks. Hindsight is 20/20 and Bungie ended up shooting themselves in the foot by trying to keep people longer at the cost of making it so they couldn't easily come back to play if they wanted to.

3 通の返信Good point, but I never did the checkpoint method of doing a bit and then meeting up with the guys the next day or whatever. All groups just sort of happen and then that's it. Getting a checkpoint was nothing special. Usually didn't finish them or someone wanted to do it fresh. They need to stop this "cliquey" approach and just start making it more matchmaking friendly because let's face it...my roster is basically a limited matchmaking apparatus where I play with whoever I can find at the moment. I don't schedule this shit. One main reason I don't is because nobody else plays on a schedule. Content geared for matchmaking doesn't have to be non-challenging either. There's nothing magical about LFGs.com that get you through content or offer you access to exclusively elite players.

1 返信No idea what the fùck you are talking about. It's an artificial time sink, plain and simple. They have the ability to add it, they simply won't.

5 通の返信To add. I think this is also why we dont have matchmaking for the nightfall. A failed nightfall kicks to orbit which will disband the groups. They can't add the means to make the fire team persist.

1 返信I agree, the way the system is designed checkpoints make matchmaking a complex issue for raids. Not as simple as turning it on. Why is probably why they didn't just turn on matchmaking for the normal Vog and CE after awhile.
