I liked a girl for 3 years. I unfortunately never asked her out, and another nicer, friendlier girl showed up, so I gave up. Me and this girl talked a lot and became best friends. Eventually, I asked her out, and turns out she also liked me, which was amazing. We started dating and kissed on the first date. Unfortunately, things were short lived. She told me the next day we couldn't date because she wasn't ready yet. She also said that she still likes me, and would try again later. I didn't mind, but I felt hurt inside.
