I'd really like to figure this out. There is a lot of debate about this. I'm just not sure. I'm inclined to vote no, because I really don't notice a difference in damage, but some people say they've tested it and know otherwise.
Let's figure out an answer. And if someone from Bungie could shed light on this, that would be awesome.
If it doesn't affect any rockets, why not? Prox det makes sense. But why wouldn't it affect any rockets? I believe that it doesn't, but why?

I spent two hours on Skolas last night with a Blessing bubble. Came close to killing him but couldn't quite get it. We finally switched to Weapons of Light and got it on the second try, with 8 rockets left over total. It definitely does SOMETHING, just not sure exactly what.

Yes. The the only thing it doesn't affect is Wolfpack Rounds and Proximity Detonation. If you land a direct hit with Gjallarhorn whilst the Weapons of Light buff is active you will still deal bonus damage from the initial impact (as long as you don't trigger the Proximity Detonation).

5 通の返信Basically, weapons of light only increases impact damage by 35% (if using illuminated), for rockets that impact is the rocket hitting the target before blowing up. That impact dmg is smaller than the explosion damage, but none-the-less it recieves the 35% dmg boost, when factored into the explosion damage and damage from Wolfpack rounds, this turns out to be only an 8% overall damage increase. This becomes slightly more tricky with any launcher having prox det, any prox det results in no impact damage, unless the rocket hits the target straight on. HOWEVER, even then prox det rockets often detonate early even when on a direct collision course, meaning the chances that you get that 8% bonus even then are iffy.

1 返信Weapons of light increase the impact of a rocket by 8%. However, the explosion or detonation of the missile isn't affected by weapons of light. Therefore all rockets that have grenades and horseshoes (proximity detonation) are technically not affected by weapons of light.

2 通の返信I believe it affects the impact of the rocket however it doesn't affect the blast. Similar to how sticky grenades work, when you stick an enemy there is an initial damage of like 14 (or something else pretty insignificant) and then a second later the explosion occurs dealing the actual damage intended when using such a grenade. If you could think of rockets as sticky grenades I think you'll get the point. The rocket will have a stronger initial hit when using weapons of light, and the blast will not be affected. (The blast is the intended damage and had it been able to be affected by weapons of light, it would probably be just a little too strong). :)

3 通の返信there was a thread just like this a while ago ehere a moderator responded to this and his response was that if your rocket has "grenades and horseshoes" no it will not get a weapons of light buff, since its an impact based mechanic the early detonation does not get a buff, (ie. gjallarhorn gets no buff) rockets such as Hunger of Crota get the buff because they must impact a target to explode

1 返信When you shoot a rocket w/o proximity detonation at a single target, you'll see 2 damage numbers pop up. One is the damage of the rocket itself hitting the target, this is normally a small amount. The next is a larger number, showing the damage caused by the explosion. Weapons of Light will increase the damage from the initial impact, but not from the explosion. This is also why WoL has no affect on rockets with proximity detonation (this includes Gally), because a rocket with proximity detonation never physically hits its target, it just blows up next to it.
