Above 2.0 kd players, does the thorn need a nerf?
You guys understand pvp. Does it need a nerf? Below 2.0 opinions will be discarded.
edit: please explain your opinion one way or the other. "Yes" is not an effective answer and will not sway any opinions.
Edit 2: I don't have a 2.0. That is why I'm asking for the opinions of my superiors. I'm asking better players with good reason. These guys understand traffic routes, map control, and are always landing headshots. They simply understand the game on a higher level than 98% of the player base and therefore I give their opinion more weight. I'm tired of seeing "NERF THORN" posts coming from some child with a 0.4. That kid can barely play the game, he knows nothing of it.
Edit 3: Here's my opinion, which should be discarded: if thorn gets nerfed tlw will be op. If tlw gets nerfed red death will be op. If red death gets nerfed someone might take a legendary primary into the crucible and exotics won't be exotics.

If any of you guys gets a second, please go to planetdestiny.com and read their latest thorn review. It breaks down why thorn is OP and how hard it's too really achieve balance in a game like this. I for one don't defend the thorn.

Exotics aren't supposed to be the best, just different. Especially exotic primaries. And if you go "get Gud, exotics are only for TEH pros." I have practically all the exotics. They're not hard to get.

2.7 kd on my highest character, it does need a nerf, i dont abuse it, and its annoying when you go against someone from your level and he abuses it, every game, with his whole team, the gun makes all the difference, you dont get a fair match, people who are super great at pvp, want something fair and intense, like competitive, not fight of who abuses more weapons, or abilities, it makes me laugh when a newbie uses thorn thinking it shoots by itself and cant even get a body shot, im not saying it requires skill, but some people hear op, and think it has aimbot or something.

6 通の返信I used to use thorn religiously and constantly defended it when I saw any negativity about it on these forums. I'm worried about it being nerfed to oblivion because there is more crying over it than Suros. So I switched my primary to TLW. Here is where I begin to notice a few things. I had to learn TLW. And once I did.. I realized it matched my playstyle and love it. One thing though, in the sweatiest IB matches while using a new gun.. I notice thorn everywhere all of the time and constantly losing firefights at stance to this gun. New players that want to practice crucible because of the tempting rewards of ToO are scared and demoralized because they are not even given a chance to learn how to play. Someone at their skill level with a thorn will butcher them while they try their heart at a scout or autorifle (which tend to new players and are very forgiving). I am a player with a 2.0+ K/D, (check hunter) using it, and MURDERING people with it. It pains me that people that are arguably "bad" at this game for lack of a better term, are trading with me because they posess this weapon, giving them false confidence that they can hang in PvP. Trials came. Many 5-0 matches to FULL FIRETEAMS of thorn. My team and myself were better, also used thorn or another weapon, and flatlined these players. Thorn is a good gun. No doubt about it. Good players use it because with a steady hand, a good player will easily surpass the rest of the lobby. The nerf it possibly needs, IMO is fire rate or stability. Maybe even the damage falloff. But all in all, scouts and autos need a big buff. And I would happily have those buffed Rather than see the thorn nerfed. I do not use thorn anymore. Piss me off and maybe, but It's currently collecting dust. I am not calling for a nerf, but i am no longer defending the gun.

Your idea of getting a professional opinion on this subject is basically choosing from one side of the players. These "0.4" k/d kids should also have a say in this issue. I will go as far as to say your oppressing them due to them being weaker than others. They could spend just as much time as the "2.0" k/d players and realize due experience what guns kill them faster than others. Not everyone an elitist. I for one, loves the underdog.😙

I only have around a 1.3-1.4 but my opinion is that Thorn has the lowest skill cap out of any gun right now. It used to be Suros that had that title until they nerfed it. What I mean is that it doesn't take much skill to be decent with it, and highly skilled players can absolutely wreck with it. This is why I believe it is unbalanced. I do believe it needs some balancing in the form of decreased RoF, decreases range, or decreased stability. I'm not talking about something major that would cause Thorn to be ineffective, but enough so that people would consider other options. No one can deny it is [u]the[/u] most used weapon right now.

1.3 KD here 13 skill ranking in control (highly skilled) I believe the problem of thorn can be solved by improving contenders namely auto rifles like the suros. If there are more alternatives there is more variety. This is coming from someone who hates autos

No it doesn't, you can last word a thorn user.. You can red death him.. You can mida multi tool him.. The only time you're at a disadvantage is when you're using an assault do to the lack of impact.. It's a widely used gun.. If it was "OP" then most of the community wouldn't be so bad at pvp
