Above 2.0 kd players, does the thorn need a nerf?
You guys understand pvp. Does it need a nerf? Below 2.0 opinions will be discarded.
edit: please explain your opinion one way or the other. "Yes" is not an effective answer and will not sway any opinions.
Edit 2: I don't have a 2.0. That is why I'm asking for the opinions of my superiors. I'm asking better players with good reason. These guys understand traffic routes, map control, and are always landing headshots. They simply understand the game on a higher level than 98% of the player base and therefore I give their opinion more weight. I'm tired of seeing "NERF THORN" posts coming from some child with a 0.4. That kid can barely play the game, he knows nothing of it.
Edit 3: Here's my opinion, which should be discarded: if thorn gets nerfed tlw will be op. If tlw gets nerfed red death will be op. If red death gets nerfed someone might take a legendary primary into the crucible and exotics won't be exotics.

I don't have a 2.0 kd but yet I can hold my own and have been to the lighthouse 3 times a week since it was released. I use thorn a lot and even at that I can say it needs a nerf. The gun is a massive advantage. People say oh its easy to counter. HA my 2 shots have you dead before you get a chance to react. You either die of poison or take me down with you. The gun needs balanced. Everyone knows it but wont admit it.

12 通の返信Thorn Deals 85 to the head With DOT deals 120 to the head With final round it deals 148 to the head A sniper body shot does about 151 damage (praedyths) tell me that shit isn't over powered. Timurs lash which has almost double thorns impact only deals 95 to the head as opposed to thorns 120 (dot) Timurs lash final round deals 126 thorns final round deals 148. Let that sink in. Copy and paste so people understand why it's over powered.

Serious question do you think thorn would be a problem for anyone if it wasn't available for toO. I use it exclusively there and use other weapons in other modes. Maybe start a weapon ban for toO like other games do for tournaments.

I also don't have the luxury of a bunch of sweatys playing with me cuz I stream like a loser. But other than that I am pretty good and I think the DOT on Thorn gets annoying, especially more so in this last trials because of the way the map was set up and all the possible areas to pop out fire off a few thorn shots and hide. In control I don't seem to really be affected all that much with thorn but considerin thorn is so strong plus the DOT it should be nerfed to be in line with other guns, if other guns were buffed to match it then crucible would be a slaughter fest of insta kill guns, it would feel more like a game of hardcore in call of duty

So I guess I qualify for your 2kd check. The Thorn in my opinion only needs two changes, a very very slight RoF reduction and that the DoT stops if the guardian with thorn dies. This means you don't have to specifically run red death to counter post moretoms deaths and will significantly open up the usage of other guns in the game.

3 通の返信Yes nerf it. Nerf it to the ground so that no1 uses it again and it balanced pvp more. Face it. Pvp was bettet before every1 used thorn.

I don't feel like it needs a nerf, just a rebalance. The DoT should do [i]just[/i] enough damage with a two thorn headshot to kill a low armour, high agility build. If someone has full armour, it should leave them with a tiny bit of health. I think that would keep its exotic status because if it is needed to where it is always a three headshot kill, then why even use it when a legendary handcannon can do the same and maybe even [i]better[/i]?

My KD is not 2.0, but it is borderline 1.6 on my main Crucible character, which is my Titan. I do, however, have almost 3,000 Crucible games on my Titan (I believe) and somewhere around 1,100,000 medal score on him. I've been playing the Crucible daily since day-one, and I'm pretty sure that I can give a pretty good opinion on it. Honestly, Thorn needs a rebalancing, not a nerf. Unlike other Hand Cannons, Thorn exceeds at a Range, and has a higher rate of fire than other High-Impact Hand Cannons that are on the same damage level (Timur's Lash, for example.). It does not have a damage fall off at a range, and while it does have recoil it only takes a few miliseconds to reset, and it's built-in sight has so much aim-assist it's ridiculous. There are plenty of professional reviews on this weapon, clearly stating that - despite what some may say - the weapon [b][i]is[/i][/b] overpowered, overused and ridiculous.

Right, because someone who has a positive K/D below 2.0 can't play PvP. My K/D is around 1.4/1.5 last time I checked, and I have used Thorn before. I prefer using Red Death ever since I got it, and it works perfectly fine against Thorn. So does quite a few other weapons, so I don't think it should be nerfed.

12 通の返信No, it's fine. I don't see what the big deal is, if I ever get shot by a thorn I just run away and go fight other people who aren't using it. I can beat it in close range with the last word, and mid to long range I run. No one understands that running away is the best tactic, unless you played halo then you definitely know what I'm talking about.

Statistically I'm a 2.0 but it should be higher for various reasons but no, my opinion is that Thorn is perfectly fine. I don't have any out of the ordinary issues countering it. Is it the weapon that kills me the most? Probably, but that's just because a lot of players use it. I mean if they were worthy of obtaining Thorn without being carried in PvP why shouldn't they use it? I used mine quite a lot when I got it but I have moved on to pulse rifles and Hawkmoon.
