Lol. Skirmish defines pvp in destiny. It also happens to be that within that definition, autism is highly abundant.

Autistic, in the context of online forum gossip here, is slang for ridiculousness or any other form of inferring that somebody frequently does things that do not make sense, etc. In the context of my reply, I made a statement that declared a poor and shallow opinion that everyone who plays skirmish and does not go in with a team based objective mindset, is therefore autistic. Autistic, in terms that they are only corrupting their own enjoyment as well as their team's by being an idiot and trying to be a one man army in a 3v3 death match. As many people do, therefore, autism is abundant. I do not support the idea of bashing people with a disorder they cannot control. I simply used it to describe people who can control their actions but choose to be ridiculous instead.

Eye_of_Setにより編集済み: 5/27/2015 5:14:04 PMWell thank you for having the guts to respond. Unfortunately, as is often remarked, we don't play well with others because we are not comfortable in social situations and don't do "teams" as such. The label "Autism" shouldn't just be bandied about however. I play a bit of Clash and a bit of control and although I suck I would never think of myself as a one man army and try to deliberately ruin a game. I try to improve and it's slowly (okay very slowly) getting there. Destiny is supposed to be cooperative in many cases and even over headphones doing raids I find it to be a strange and uncomfortable experience with so much chatter which I actually find off putting due to sensory issues. But we are not all retarded or display what others consider retarded or odd behaviour. Due to our obsessions, single mindedness and special interests it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't some outstanding PvP players with Autism as once we get hooked into something we can be pretty dominating (I said some because I am clearly not outstanding lol). But thank you for responding and explaining.

Think he's trying to say people play like they have autism and therefore people play like there are retarded. But most people know autism doesn't have anything to do with a persons intelligence. So f*ck that guy

In theory it could be slightly less offensive. He might mean that they are poor communicators, which becomes a problem in skirmish. He probably used it as a stand it for retarded, which is retarded, but he was almost mildly accurate.

Eye_of_Setにより編集済み: 5/27/2015 4:54:19 PMSorry but you've just offended me. I'm not mildly retarded at all. I have high functioning autism or Aspergers Syndrome which means I have a very high IQ and level of intelligence. I just don't do people or social activities and I have acute sensitivities to sound, smell, taste and touch. Whilst the Autistic Spectrum is large and there are people out there on it who struggle with basic communication I wouldn't expect them to be playing Destiny. I find it odd that Autism is such an easy target when it comes to calling people retarded but that people wouldn't have the guts to refer to those people as having, for example, Down's syndrome or any other neurological condition.

Well I'm still waiting for him to tell us what he meant although my hope that he will is probably a forlorn one. I have read at least half a dozen posts on this forum that have managed to equate Autism with being retarded and it's very sad that we are seen as some sort of easy target. When I did a raid I was called anti social (they forgot I could hear them) because I wasn't one for constant chatter. I would say that was an Autistic trait but I'm sure there are worse.

Unless kids have first hand experience with it, like a sibling or friend, then they usually have no idea what it means. To them it means different, and anything different is always used as an insult until you're old enough to use your brain worth shit.
