  • Statistics isn't that hard of a math, it's just annoyingly lenghty. The key is to do a bunch of different problems regularly to get used to them

  • I have actually done a few stats classes before: A+ in every one (4 of them). This class however was brutal... I didnt see a single number all semester, it was all proofs; and my prof cant explain anything in a normal way... I don't know if you know what I mean, but its like he cant remove himself from PhD level analysis... As an example, his "explanation" of the rejection region, was a two page proof with all this crazy set notation and functions mapping onto other functions, applying Slutsky's theorem... etc. Like just say: "in the tails" haha. The other thing he did was to write his own chapters for the class (no proper textbook) and then when you go through his proofs you run into lines where you have no frigging clue what he just did... then you look at the exercises at the end and they tell you to figure out what he did "there"... so basically his "textbook" was a bunch of proofs that are 75% complete, and then you have to fill in the gaps, and only then do you have a proof you can understand top to bottom. I dunno, it was rough. Have you done this sort of pure math stats before? I was surprised to be honest.
