Why do legendary engrams decrypt into shards?
I am constantly frustrated by my Legendary engrams turning into shards. Can Bungie please make it so the engram decodes into what it is supposed to be (armour or weapon) and let me decide to 'shard' it if I want to?
Anyone else think this is a good idea?

2 通の返信It wouldn't be that bad if it were say like 10 radiant materials/strange coins/motes. But 2 ascendant materials is like getting a Christmas card from your grandmother and it having McDonald's coupons inside.

This is literally every single time. I think their drop system must be broken or something. It's been this way ever since the engram update a few months back... Ascendant materials used to be rare and not legendary...this made wayyyyyy more sense and made the game more rewarding. I don't understand why bungie works backwards and just makes the game worse with their updates...

Almost as bad as a Legendary going Blue would be when you finally see that purple polyhedron drop in the wild and it turns out to be a -blam!-ing Class Item! Which don't even give shards! They need to change all of those to blue or lower. Period.

1 返信Correction: why do weapon engram's turn into shards. Because let's be honest even of I got an armor engram to turn into armor it immediately becomes shards. At least the weapon engrams should on be able to be energy...

2 legendary engrams turned into something good. - my first legendary engram was from the very first loot cave. converted into my very first exotic , my first gjallarhorn (kept at 300 DMG because of memories , which is on my warlock my first character). - my second legendary engram turned into a 331 hawkmoon.

Totally agree. I had a run over three days recently when I got 6 legendary engrams (until that point I'd only found 4 in two months) and the Cryptard gave me 10 shards and 2 energies. I've easily received more legendary items (usually armor; I can't seem to get weapons) from blue engrams than from purples... Plus, Bungie really need to get rid of the commendation system. I've already bought the weapons available at the quartermaster (at least re-roll them occasionally FFS Bungie) because I can't get many weapons to drop through engrams. Yet they don't give me the opportunity to choose whether to shard or not shard weapons from engrams.

My last 5 heavy weapon legendary engrams have all turned into energy. It's ridiculous. Bungie's rng has broke me after 23 weeks. I'm finally at the point where I don't expect anything to happen with legendary engrams, cryptarch packages, faction packages, nightfalls etc...I've easily put in over 1000hrs having 3 alts and deleting and releveling 4 guardians just in the hopes of getting the only gun I've been searching for since launch, Hawkmoon. Apparently this ps exclusive is too exclusive for my ps! The burnout has set in and Destiny won't hold my attention for another 3+ months while we wait for HoW. One exotic is not worth the frustration.

It's another bad Bungie decision that they will never change and only trolls the player base. No reason why they should decrypt into shards, it's not like we're keeping armor or weapons we don't want, we're going to shard it anyway. The only reason I can see them putting shards as an option is to decrease the likelihood of an exotic dropping, but even then the chance is so slim, and for some people they still get exotics out of every other legendary engram anyway.
