I hate this, I -blam!- hate this quest and the "strand sources bonded" step has made me consider uninstalling. I've probably searched for a second strand source for 30 hours and so far I've only found the first one. Absolutely -blam!- painful and easily one of the biggest oversights in lightfall is making these a shared instance. Talked to others and some of them share this sentiment, the rest seem to get it right away but what about people like me who seem so unlucky this is a part time job. -blam!- ridiculous.
