Lightfall looks and sounds like bad fanfiction crossed with a fever dream. The reveal was more than enough to convince me to not pay full price for what I can only describe as drivel. If the Christmas discount is low enough, I might buy it on sale just so I can personally experience how bad it really is. That's the only way Bungie is gonna get my money. I've thrown what I would have spent on Lightfall at other devs who actually attempt to at least make quality products.

Like most of Bungie's narrative related to characters, it falls completely flat. When exactly were we supposed to become ingratiated to a side character NPC enough to care about their nonsensical death? Bungie: WHY WOULD YOU SEND A HUMAN INTO AN ENEMY STRONGHOLD WHEN YOU HAVE IMMORTAL SPACE WIZARDS? Seriously. If Amanda had died, RUNNING SUPPORT, which has been her common thread, that would have been a lot more impactful. It still would have been a bit flat, but at least it would have made sense. Do you think they realize that killing off Tess Eververse would have had the same impact? That's how poorly developed Amanda was.

How the F do you all keep falling for the same BS from Bungie? Month after month, year after year? Bungie will never change, this game is absolute trash and the devs are incompetent clowns. Yet, every single season, after every single DLC, you all expect Bungie to change? Bungie is, and has always been the problem.

Season of the Haunted was the gold standard when it came to seasonal story missions. Witch Queen was the gold standard when it came to campaign. They were the most fun I ever had in this game. Both of these were relatively recent, so they could have easily used them as a stepping stone to build on but Bungie in classic Bungie fashion, decided to take something good and ruin it. It truly boggles the mind how for all the data Bungie supposedly collects to improve the game, they still haven't figured out how to consistently make a good campaign, a good seasonal story mission, nevermind PvP.

You must be young. Or have been fortunate in that you have not lost people close to you. The point of this season was to show the value of pulling together in a crisis, instead of pulling apart and things devolving into an every-person-for-themselves free-for-all. Amanda’s death showed what the real face of war is like. Senseless, random death that tears gaping holes in the lives and hearts left behind. There is nothing glorious about it. It is nasty, hateful, evil business. As Nimbus learned the hard way. Also you missed the point of Zavala’s speech…and Mara’s words to us at the end. Leaders in war carry a moral burden. They seldom die in combat, but they have to live with the losses that their decisions, shortcomings, and failures result in. The fact that he put Amanda’s name alongside Safiyah’s and Hakim’s was no accident. Zavala LOVED Amanda like a daughter. He agonized over her whenever she went into combat…and her death last tore his heart from his chest and left him reduced to muttering “Devotion…” trying to make sense of it all. This week, he had recovered to the point wher he could finally put both his love and his grief into words. Something he had always struggled to do. In short, live long enough and you will find yourself in Zavala’s shoes. Either because that person was torn from your life by death…Or equally painfully…they chose to leave it of their own free will. Mara put a punctuation mark on this as she put into word the pain of immortality. A pain that often drove ancient vampires of literature to end themselves by walking out into the Sun: You endure while everyone and everything that made that life have value…dies. You endure, but nothing else around you does. So life becomes a parade of pain and grief that must be endured. Her willingness to finally drop her Royal affectation and show the woman underneath was so powerful that it actually made me LIKE her for the first time.

I like to joke that Amanda was offed because she's one of the few prominent straight characters and her existence takes away screen time from all the "others." Of course, just like Zavala's relationship, they had to dash it against the rocks first. Kinda weird that the only "stable" pairings are the non-conforming ones. Anyway, that's my spinfoil for the day.

From what I’m hearing, I’m glad I’m just focusing on lightfall and not on the seasonal story. I kinda lost hope after plunder, but I’ll still run through it in the last weeks before it ends so I can get weapon patterns Spoilers are welcome
