7 通の返信Gaming posts get flooded with indie hipsters, professional game critics, and people who only play Destiny and Doom. Roleplay is dead and I'm honestly cool with that. Music posts are mostly le wrong generation kids spazzing over their grandpa's hard rock cassette tapes from the 80s or Doom soundtrack fanboys. The new kids suck at shiteposting and also love to blog about their boring as hell lives. The mods are too strict when it comes to random nonsense like people joking about their age but don't give a damn about actual harassment or trolls. And because Bungo is bad at games their community is slowly withering away by not attracting new players and therefore new forum users. Now cue all the people bored as hell with no lives in the comments pushing up their glasses saying well aktully forums are an outdated blah blah 12 paragraph essay on why I'm super duper smart because everyone cares and all the girls are watching

They killed the septagon almost 10yrs ago with the site redesign and it's been a slow decline ever since, periodically getting life injected for a few days before ultimately fading again. Also, killing #gaming and the mods going full waypoint didn't help.

Dredgen Wolfにより編集済み: 9/19/2021 2:47:40 AMNo posts from me (Ghost Wolf) lately. Nothing to troll, Lore invaded too hard and their pesky teen/-blam!-/ and-or children won't leave, even when we said they weren't welcome here! I got warnings from the great bejeweled knee copypasta that I would post in the mains, I stopped uwu-ing posts in Lore, I started Haiku-ing posts but nobody caught on to it or didn't care... Now I add a comment to a few posts here in OT, but, its not the same... Edit: why is p-r-e t-e-e-n censored?

3 通の返信I just wanna throw this out here, but I've been here for a good while now, and I think there's a few things that are just killing offtopic. One being people just trying hard to fit in, which is pretty cringey. The number of "I've returned" posts I've seen from accounts that are like 3 months old is pretty crazy. Lilith comes back and like 5 of these posts follow. I (stupidly) say 1 thing about slim slimy, 4,000 posts follow mentioning slim slimy. Sometimes I make the worst posts and like 1 person sees my post which is fine. You don't need to be some twitter superstar to be here. This place use to be super casual which is what I like about it. I'm here because I like surrounding myself with cool people. There's also a lot of gaming people that I think just have a hard time relating to anything else but gaming, which also really dulls this place down imo. I haven't seen a whole lot of that recently, but it certainly comes and goes. And of course, age is another thing when you don't exactly know how to talk to people. I have an unrealistically bitter life and as a result, I don't have an exciting life at all, and nothing happens every day, yet I can still find plenty of stuff to talk about. Someone else mentioned that this place also used to have more events and stuff. I noticed when I make posts where you have to pick some kind of awful thing happen to your body and become abnormally ugly, people seem to like that. I wouldn't mind doing that like weekly or biweekly or something. Also whatever happened to face pics? Were kids trying to promote their instas or some -blam!- or did people just shy out? Also, people tend to stick to their own circles. Branch out. Get uncomfortable. I have a few favorites but I don't shelter myself. People come and go which sucks, but whatever. If I could go back to Xronad, Oldboy, Cam, Max, Lady Ghost, Peaches, DeMix, and even Doob, I would. But idc because there's still people here. Like, this place doesn't have to be dead. I also can't say some bans I've caught are helping either. I'm not bashing the ninjas too hard, and idk if it's there's just a lot of bad bans or if we're all just walking on eggshells, but there have been some pretty genuinely confusing bans I've got. And then of course, there was the name change. I wonder if anyone's caught onto my gimmick yet.
I fear my perfume has worn off before our meeting tonight...
6 通の返信We can point fingers all day, but, the trith of the matter is that the declination of this place is really a culmination of a lot of factors. First is Bungie and Density 2. Density right now is the most hostile to newer players than it has ever been before, especially including the Halo era. They're taking -blam!- out of their game and the seasonal bullshit is costing more time and money from it's playerbase. Newer players see this, and avoid Density like the plague, which means we're not getting the trickle down of users as we used to. Also, if you want to reach way back, apparently making it a requirement to play D2 to use the forums really did a number on Offtopic. Second is the bans. If you ask me, it started with Xronad, and, since then, it just went down hill. A good amount of popular users got banned, then a whole bunch of folks left when they saw their friends didn't come here anymore. Also, many of the popular users that got banned attracted newer guys here, and, to be honest, Offtopic just isn't as interesting as it used to be, so it's not attracting as interesting people. Third is a lack of community events, which ties into 2 as well. Popular users are popular because they host great events that a ton of people can partake in, think Nil's or Speaker's grandiose rps or Lee's drawings, or Tiger's ridiculous comedies. When those guys left, their events fell to -blam!- as well. No more OAFL, no more story sign ups, rp is at an all time low, Blaze's bar seems to have closed for the time being, and more. The last new event I can think of is OGN, but that takes place mostlt outside of the forums. Like seriously, we almost completely missed Porch Day this year. Fourth is the newer users themselves. Don't get me wrong, i'll take whoever we cna get, but a lot of these guys just don't know yet how to make their posts engaging with the community. Just ask Nil about it, she can describe their behavior it in a much funnier and accurate way than I can. However, i don't think it's these guys' fault. See, when I joined here, I know for a fact I posted and generally acted like a lot of the newer folk here because i was in their exact position. About 14-15 years old, inexpierenced with social media, enjoyed Density, and generally acted the same way. Except, the difference between me and them is that I had a ton of great users that I could look at as an example of how to act on the forums. Fifth is the lurkers and commenters. With the untimely exit of a bunch of popular users, it's time for lurkers and commenters such as myself to really start posting and continue some of the long-held traditions and events that makes this place awesome. Except, we aren't filling that void. The newer guys need to be taught how to be take their creativity and use it to engage the community. They're learning, but a lot slower than those that came before taht had many more models. And, there's more reasons, both big and small, but, to me, those are the big ones.
