well to be fair there is the throwing hammer (although lets be real here who uses that shit tree) and theres also that ball that warlocks can shoot out (cant remember its name ball lightning maybe?)

Look, I never said I don't want a throwing knife buff or a OHK for Hunters. But the throwing knife would be broken with OHK knives. It isn't too hard to land crits, so it would kill from close to mid range, which a shoulder charge can't do, maybe a charged nade can. However, how would you feel if OHK tempest strike and backstab made their way into the game. Would make hunters run Arcstrider instead of spectral blades or -blam!-ing blade barrage.
