I've got a message for anyone out there who thinks that gun-free zones are a bad idea. I work on a suicide ward as a parent consul (our job is to educate parents and work with the school to make sure we don't have repeats). As you could probably imagine things can get pretty heated (especially between parents and Doctors) and we've even had a couple of fist fights break out. Can you imagine how many people could've died if those people had guns? Gun free zones aren't there to prevent the mentally damaged from killing people, they're to stop normal people from killing each other. Security guards have the job of keeping the place safe, not you.
Edit: To all people who want to type "criminals don't obey laws" keep in mind I said this:
Gun free zones aren't there to prevent the mentally damaged from killing people, they're to stop normal people from killing each other.
I'm not just talking about people snapping, even though I still think it's a possibility, I'm also talking about police mistaking guns owners for the criminal (or gun owners shooting other gun owners, or the killer escaping because he pretended to be a gun owner).

Others that steal. I shot a burglar once years ago in our first house. I got legend status. He got 6 months to learn how to walk again. Even trade. Edit: before you anti gun nuts go crazy. Him and his buddy came into my home that I bought with my blood, sweat and tears where my wife sleeps. His buddy got away. I wake up he is holding a knife. He knew their was going to be a response. If I had sons at that time. They would both be 6 feet under. Ever since then I own 4 guns placed in strategic places all over my house in biometric emergency safes. For my gun lovers: smith and Wesson 1911 45. Five of seven 9mm. Beretta 9mm and of course my baby 50 cal desert eagle that was transferred to me from a good friend from Israel. Grandfathered it to me.

2 通の返信If the speed limit is 70 do you go 70? Nope over the limit. If someone has a gun and wants to bring a gun somewhere and they see a sign "gun free zone" do you think they're going to say "oh shit gun free zone better not bring this in."

We should take "No GUn zone" logic a step further. How about any immigrant that enters the country must sign a contract promising not to commit any acts of terrorism. Surely that would work as any terrorists would then be like "oh I cant sign that"

14 通の返信You do realize that your workplace likely has many more involuntarily committed patients that voluntarily committed patients, yes? And that an involuntary committal bars one from gun ownership, right? And that you can't legally buy a gun if you're under 18, right? And that most states (likely including yours) still require a permit or license to carry a gun? And that concealed carriers are less likely to commit crime (violent or otherwise) than even the police, right? Sounds like you wouldn't have that many people in your workplace that would be able to legally carry to begin with. Does that gun-free zone sign come with a magic force field that won't allow guns to pass?

1 返信Putting a sign on the wall with a crossed-out gun inside a circle is a laughably pathetic idea. Now, if they were to enforce gun-free zones, that would be a different story.

17 通の返信>A criminal walks into a school, ready to open fire. Teacher: Sorry this is a gun free zone. Criminal: Oh, sorry, I'll just leave, I don't want to break any laws. >The criminal then shoots everybody because he doesn't care about laws.

4 通の返信Hmm, let's look at where the most publicized shootings have occurred. Public schools Movie theaters Government buildings Shopping malls and stores All of these are gun-free zones, making everyone inside an easy target.

4 通の返信Comparing a mental ward to everyday, public places. Not very bright. And your "gfzs are to keep normal people from killing normal people" argument is flawed considering a lot the notorious mass shootings are in schools, which are gun free zones.
