This is why we should be able to use ciphers to swap out the exotic traits of exotic class items. If not ciphers then add glass needles from D1 back as a new currency to do this to Xur.

Yes to the needles! Have it so you take 2 different class items that have a matching perk and the glass needle sticks / locks it inplace while the other slot rerolls from the 8. Make them cost an exotic cipher, ascendant shards, & glimmer.
