I remember people talking about it dropping back when into the light was happening but when they removed the event they just said the armor and shader would return in the future. I don't think we've heard anything on the armor while the shader is now a halloween item.
If I had to guess the dropping from onslaught was a bug since it was intended to be obtained from the chests.

From what I have seen from searching, it is supposed to drop from onslaught now. The issue I am having is that I have done closer to 2000 waves and haven't gotten a drop in the past 1000. It is a rare drop but I got the helm, chest, boots, and class item within the first 1000 and haven't seen another drop since.

Question has this been 50 or normal? I don't play onslaught anymore so I can't confirm if this is a thing but maybe the chances are higher depending on the difficulty (So 10 wave, 50 wave, legend 50)

Just got it on the round 30 chest, turns out I was just really unlucky.

Can't remember exactly which waves I got them on, but they have all been on the 50 waves normal so far.
