this only works (wearing veteran and using IB ornaments) if you've already paid the synthweave bolts to unlock IB ornaments for use on non-IB gear. unfortunately, found this out the hard way because the "unlock" button doesn't indicate you'll be spending bolts (like it does for most other items), but you definitely will use up your bolts. whoops. (: the reverse is highly recommended however (wear IB gear and use the new free Veteran ornaments that don't need bolts), if you're trying to be conservative with bolts!
