Expectations for Frontiers (+ airport departure)
At first I was confused how 2 expansions, 4 seasons and various events could be delivered after recent staff cuts and with Marathon gearing up for launch.
There was an expectation from a lot of people (including myself) that Destiny would be on the back burner, at least until Marathon was in full swing.
Having digested the info, my expectation for the two expansions, Apollo and Behemoth, is that they will be similar in size to Curse of Osiris and Warmind.
My expectation for the seasons is that they will be similar to previous/current seasons and episodes, minus the story.
However, it’s difficult for me to see this as a reduction in quantity to focus on quality. I suspect there will be less content in total, but with multiple aspects to deliver and a similarly demanding schedule, my expectations are for more of the same (albeit with some tweaks to this and that).
No hate. Extremely grateful for all the fun. Call me when D3 is ready.

Ya, I'm not optimistic. The road map looks good on paper, but the content will likely just be reskins or meaningless grind( see exotic class items)

6 RisposteDestiny is going to have some serious competition in 2025. We're at a all time low because of all the games that came out (black myth, star wars outlaw, warhammer, first descendant) and the line up for the rest of the year and next year is also looking solid.

6 RisposteOnly a guess but I suspect most of the layoffs (not connected to grabbing back shares) were the box tick hires standing round leaning on shovels offering poorly thought out opinions, and not the people actually doing the digging. The losses are not as impactful as you suggest, more a ditching dead wood. When the goings good tech companies, especially the lefty ones develop a 'hippy obesity', thats not sustainable in a downturn. It would also be apparent these freeloaders are objectively bad for product quality and profitability. Personally this episode story wise was a yawnfest, rewards were decent, the repeatable content was ok, the latter version was more fun but the exotic mission driving the story through repeated runs was a mistake. I did it once and I'm not repeating it, the gun was ok but not enough to waste my time on. I have a vault filled with digital crap, 1 more isn't moving the needle. if its not fun? I'm not playing it. So this formula isn't for me.

We’ve seen what they can do with a large team, and nobody should be expecting anything better with a smaller and broken team when the same mis-management exists.

Players should expect lower quality content but priced as fuller expansions. The continuation feels a bit odd at this point given the currently historically low player numbers after The Final Shape. Who is going to be playing the content? So many players stated that this expansion would be their last one then done. The player count now adds credence to those statements. The episodes haven't really engaged players. Hard to see massive interest at this point. I groaned inside when I saw the announcement. Enough now Bungie please surely?

they clearly sink a lot and i mean a lot of time and effort into the campaign. if all those resources are devoted elsewhere to knew game modes pvp maps etcs instead of simply doing less then we may have some really good expansions.

They already compared the "seasons" as into the light updates for the core game and the expansions being mid sized are around shadowkeep size, probably with better quality.

I’m actually super curious how it all will play out. I think it’s pretty cool that Tyson is making his mark on the game and it’s obvious he has a vision of where it needs to go. The game needs to evolve and he certainly is showing the sack to make major changes. I’m looking forward to all the changes that are coming. Good luck to you though man.

1 RispondiI’m not seeing how their stated plan helps reduce the workload given the update and episode release schedule but it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out. Hopefully they’ll adjust/adapt quickly if it’s overly taxing/not working out as anticipated. I do expect that I’ll continue to play occasionally.

It looks like there's a good chance there's going to be a lot more depth to whatever it is the game will be doing. It does kind of look like a lot when you first look at it but I guess that will depend on the way the "seasons" play out. Either way it does look like there's potential for the game to be more about what's good and what's interesting to play than what gets the absolute most people to play possible.

I think its understandable in any case to need a break.. they didn't keep up the quality.. ...but it looks to me as a huge cut in amount of new story content.. to focus on the major updates which are basically huge maintenance of rituals, vendors, events with surely a sprinkle of new features/organization/QOL. There are 2 story content drops in a year that includes the raid & dungeon.. which is why I think it will be much less pricey.. and much more actual fun (if we have any population left).. for those activities.. but its overdue.. and can't be denied instead of investing here they stretched it out to thin.. still I'm interested enough in what they bust out to keep listening but will def be looking at other things too
