Quest line structures like A Rising Chorus Act II is an insult to game design. This isn’t the first time this has happened, which is why I felt inclined to make a post to offer some crucial feedback. I feel that almost every player feels completely degraded by completing a quest line with this type of interaction: Step: Go to Nessus. Walk 100 yards. Pick up item. Walk 100 yards. Pick up item. Done. Step: Go to Helm. Talk to Failsafe. Done. Step: Go to Tower. Talk to Ikora. Done. Step: Go back to Helm. Talk to Failsafe. Done. Step: Go to back to Nessus. Walk 200 Yards. Kill one enemy. Done. Step: Go to back to Helm again. Talk to Failsafe. Done. Step: Mission: Shell Back and forth, back and forth, loading screen, loading screen and the bare minimum of gameplay just to get to a mission. If this was intended to be a much richer interactive quest-line sequence but was reduce due to budget, then please just cut it completely and give us all the dialogue at once and present us with the mission. It feels demoralizing.

  • I crack up at this too. 😂. It’s like, quest with 34 steps. I’m already knowing that most of it is back and forth from A to C, C to A, A to B, B to A, A to D, D to A, A to B, B to A Ect… 😂 Me and my kid laugh about it all the time. 🤪

    • Bungie telling us "episodes" aren't seasons yet literally give us the exact same concept as seasons, it's a disgrace They even got us doing this same go here, do that, go back to helm, go back here again, see npcs talk, go back to helm to talk to npc that you JUST saw before they left to make you go back to helm Bungie needs to stop with the whole holoprojector nonsense and just have everything be told via comms, period.

      • It’s literally the same thing on the pale heart, especially with the lost ghosts and I feel like I’m doing them for a laugh…. I’ve done at least 6 then most of the time I have to do the stupid patrol thing by myself and go do the same cysts I’ve done countless times to get either a hand cannon, fusion rifle or linear fusion rifle? And they drop from completing the overthrow I think it’s called ?!?

          • You missed out two steps at the end: Step: Listen to tedious and unconvincing love story between a man who's hundreds of years old and sounds vaguely constipated and a robot powered by sentient milk who may or may not actually exist. Step: Report the whole thing to Failsafe and discover it's a pointless waste of time because you'll be doing the whole thing again in three weeks time but have to amuse yourself until then.

Didn't think they would follow up the final shape with a gay relationship drama piece that consists of listening to two guys talk about themselves ad nauseum with small breaks of walking around Nessus to find nodes, and then fast travelling. Interesting gameplay loop. Interesting narrative choice.

Tired of all design philosophy that seems to center around increasing play time in a meaningless way. Punishing players for optimizing in boss fights with immunity phases. Creating content to waste time rather than make fun experiences.

            • The worst IMO is: Go talk to NPC 1, ….Travel to that spot…talk in person…. Oh now go to this holographic-projector, in a different room/ location and hear a message from NPC1, who you just had an in person talk with! Travel to that place, find the holographic-projector and listen to NPC1. Oh and now go to a slightly different room to listen in on a radio message that two other NPCS and possibly even NPC1 are having! 🤦🏻🧐

            • Bungie’s explanation for why this is a thing:
Hi. I understand that you’re annoyed that some quests like this make you go multiple places, but there are logistical reasons why this happens. Sometimes it’s how the quest was built as part of the overall gameplay loop and its incredibly hard after the fact to change it, such as in Season of the Forge where you had to visit Ada multiple times. And other times it’s due to time or budgetary constraints. Full vendor performances take up much more time and budget to create than an upper torso performance in the holoprojector or just a voice recording. In your example about going to the Farm then the HELM and back to the Farm, that’s intended as part of the gameplay loop since both locations are important to the story, but the main reason is because certain performances are hooked up at each holoprojector and we can’t put them all in the same place without other issues occurring. We actually have many gameplay specialists who play through the content prior to release, many many times, and then provide feedback to us about their experience. However, sometimes we’re unable to act on that feedback for various reasons, such as production schedules. More than likely the feedback you’re giving today was pointed out months ago. Could we have done things better? Absolutely, and that’s feedback we’ll be looking at for future seasons.
From their reddit response here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/12x7md5/comment/jhip11h/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Whether or not you believe then is up to you.

              • It would be better if we could skip all the dialogue. But no. Most of the time our Guardian is just awkwardly standing there while two or three characters have their own conversation. They usually don't even acknowledge that our Guardian is present.

                    • Time padding since it's the least amount of effort needed for "content". They can simply cut the pointless trips by making each character talking through your ghost comms but they don't simply because of that, time padding

                    • I remember that the game went into high gear in wasting our time when Activision came into the picture. Some people claimed that the higher ups wanted to see more time invested by each player into the game. In effect, they came up with so many ways to waste a player's time by making them go through hoops and hoops and more mindful hoops. They failed to realize that while it worked for a little time, player investment into the game went down. Everything wasn't rewarding enough to spend time on. Until Bungie realizes this and dials it back way down, they will keep seeing player engagement go to down, perhaps all the way to zero.

                      • It's all part of Bungie's scientifically crafted time-to--reward ratio. (being serious, they have behavioral scientists working on this)

                      • It’s not a huge deal tbh. This is common in mmos. If you have npcs in different locations that the player needs to interact with for a piece of content, 9x out of 10 you need to move locations to talk to both. It’s definitely annoying but it’s not a hill I’d die on. You obviously never played Wizard 101 lol :)
