Hi there! This sounds like a network connectivity issue, where your console is not able to communicate to the Destiny 2 servers cleanly. Are you on a wired connection or wireless? Are you attempting to connect to the servers with both consoles turned on?

  • Attempting to connect to other online games to troubleshoot connection issues with one game is not a gold standard in the troubleshooting process. It can confirm that you can get online, but that is about it. Games such as Call of Duty, FIFA 2K and Battlefield all have unique connection mechanisms and pathways to connect. Each game has their own connection path, connection requirements and connection destination(s) to connect online. The issue you are describing sounds like it is having difficulty connecting to the Destiny 2 servers. Please try shutting down both of your PS5 consoles completely (do not put it in sleep mode), then unplug your modem and router. Leave your modem and router unplugged for at least a minute. Then, plug your modem back in and let it fully boot up, then plug in your router. Then, turn on one PS5 and attempt to launch the game again. If the issue persists, then something between your console and your modem is causing the connection issues to occur. Please note that connection speed is also not necessarily a concern in this situation, but rather connection stability and strength. Connections over WiFi (especially 5gHz connections) are more susceptible to errors, especially when they are encountering interference, such as walls and/or other signals (in some situations). If possible, please try to connect one of your consoles directly to your router via an ethernet cable to see if the issue persists.

  • Have spoken to my isp an my modem is not stopping me also talked to netgear about my nighthawk an they took control of it over wifi an showed me upnp has always been enabled it enabled by default since day one also this is a new problem i have played d2 with this router on two ps4 with out problems connecting connecting problem is only with my ps5s thats why im wondering if its a bug or a glitch

  • I can assure you this is not a bug. UPnP allows multiple devices to use services as seamlessly as possible. This can function differently between vendors. If one console works fine, but the other one does not, this is a strong indicator that something is not working correctly within the UPnP services. if you try the steps again that I provided earlier, but with the other impacted console, and the issue is resolved on that console, then the issue is within the router environment. Netgear should have tools available to them that could help capture logs to further troubleshoot the issue at this juncture. If the issue does persist, then there is a networking setting on the affected console that's causing some communication errors to occur.

  • Okay see heres my problem then im trying to b chill im very much wanting to buy the new expansion an seasom passs an actively saying ive checked everything on my end i want to give bunge 200 bucks expansion for me an my wife a all im getting is its my fault when no game plays messed up i have no hiccups with anything but destiny at all red deadonline three people in my house playin it at the same tome no issues same with dead by day light a much smaller game studio an game um call of duty conan exiles gta online all these games never a problem still not on today an i have checked with my isp its fine my router my modem cleared caches on both several times rebuilt the data bases on noth sevral times an try other games that connect an dont drop an run fine an u still wanna give me an answer as its my equpiment or in stuff thats not working right why if everything but YOUR game works right is it clear on my end ????

I also just want to make it clear that, at no point, did anyone say this was your fault. Networking issues are complicated to troubleshoot. However, it is also difficult to troubleshoot remotely, as everyone's network equipment and configuration is different. It is also difficult to replicate it based on these factors. Did you try the steps again, with you turning on the other impacted PS5 console? What was the results of this?

  • Okay let me start with i apolgize to u if my frustration took a turn towards being vile towards u at all i am sorry if it seemed that way it was not ment that way to b honest i love playing this game an being able to play it with my wife is just one so much better lol i think i may have found a fix but i have to try it later notight what seemed to fix mine was unistalling d2 turning off the ps5 unpluging all wires for five mins to clear the cache starting back an actually going in safe mode an clearing it again restart the system in safe mode again rebuilt the data base restart the system again reinstalled d2 an restarted the system it let me log in like 6 times in a row first try maybe connecting to verified was 20 seconds everytime i did this to both systems an changed nothing else mine is acting right now it seems well now as far as one night it was acting right lol fingers crossed i did the same ti hers last night cant try it til tonight a 8 central time does that fix make any sense again very computer stupid u want a house built ground up no powertools im ur guy u wanna do anything electronic im not the right wizard lol

  • Port Forwarding and UPnP active at the same time can be detrimental, since UPnP negotiates the ports for multiple devices. If you are using multiple console to play Destiny 2, you need to make sure UPnP is enabled and disable any port forwarding rules.

  • Okay then i shouldnt mess with it it says oort forwarding is on but i have nothing like designated for each system it just says port forwardings enabled when i click delete it says theres nothing saved to delete

  • Port forwarding will only work if a device is in that list. If it is not in the list, then it will not operate. Normally, there is no way to turn these functions off.

  • Pick ur brain my wife is in the tower im trying to log in everytime i get ti the log in screen hit x it says connecting my guardian's name oops up in a text chat box on her screen both right side of the screen no writing or anything just my name we didnt even notice it til last nite every time i try to get in it pops up im up to five tries to night so far

  • Thank u it has two options an i have to pick one it wont let me just delete port forwarding it port forwarding which is on the other option is port triggering i can click port triggering an then it pops up a new box that says disable port triggering so thats what i need to do right turn off my router adjust the settings to port triggering an then click the box to disable it apply an save start up an my stuffs fixxed everyones fingers crossed lol an again thank u for ur help

  • We played destiny about a yr ago with this night hawk router on our ps4s an had no problems ,the load times to even change weapons got so bad we quit got ps5 an it plays so much better but the connection screen is messing us up mine starts every time now but my wifes stil isnt

If your router is unable to allow both consoles to connect, then this could be a configuration error on the Nighthawk router, or there may be an issue with the firmware.
