I think so. What IF the Witness didn't invade the Pale Heart, maybe they were invited in? Because, MAYBE, we didn't have the potential energy required to kill the Witness OUTSIDE of the Traveler? Bait the Witness in, happened during the interlude campaign "Lightfall"... the Witness grabbed our Ghost, and we were losing that campaign but for one moment NEVER explained... How our ghost was able to patch into the communications between the Witness and Calus. That moment led to our interaction with the Witness where they grabbed our Ghost. After they did, they entered the Traveler. If the Witness wouldn't have stalled, been baited... it wins. We entered the Traveler, malevolent forces in opposition to us entered alongside us... and in that conflict gained the energy needed to defeat the Witness and was 'supposed' to remove us... as a threat. But for the Echo protocol's and Cayde's intervention. We're still going to lose, there's no avoiding the collapse, but we're losing the right way now. 😇 👍💠
