If people could delete their posts it would allow them to say malicious things before a moderator can take action. Deleting posts is a terrible idea. Users can, however, edit the title of their post to request for it to be locked. There is no reason whatsoever for anyone to need to delete their post.

Also, I’m not reading the essay you replied with. Flat out, there is no reason for users to delete posts.

Sure there is. Each post takes up space. Each post continues conversation because people keep responding to one another, even after it is solved or edited. Locking will still exist either way, which is fine. Posts do always, naturally fall out of conversation eventually, anyway, so why not allow it to be done more quickly? Almost every post is littered with those malicious people because they go where the noise is; like a strange compulsion. They don't care what happens, they will always come back for more. Its like they're truly wired for it at any cost. They truly live for it. Nobody can stop any of that. It is literally impossible. I don't use the term "literally" lightly, or incorrectly, here. If it can be deleted, all conversations end in that post. I still see plenty of troll posts, and those people will always return. These trolls and malcontents will literally never go away, no matter what anyone does, no matter what checks and systems are implemented, because we literally can't control anyone beyond ourselves. So how well is Bungie's "solution" really working? Its not. Its completely useless. Its only overcomplicating the forum. I see repeat offenders that live for this, constantly, who are never banned, save for maybe a day at most, and they still infest everything. I've watched the same people for years, do what they do. Clearly it is a non-functional solution to a massive problem, so why take away app functionality? Besides, the mods only delete posts if they THINK it is offensive in some way, though usually they just lock it, but what do they really know? Are they any more qualified than anyone else to do what they do? Absolutely not, so why do we need that hierarchy to dictate this?
