We really believe this is a ddos or something else?

Just spitballing here but you mean to tell me that a multi-billion dollar company has been getting absolutely wrecked for a week+ from a DDoS? This the craziest DDoS literally in the history of ddosing? OR did a dev team mess up some code when trying to fix the broken guns? The lack of communication is NOT a good look. Thoughts?

  • It is DDos, Bungie said so and I think we should take their word. Solving the problem of DDos ing is very hard to do because it's not on bungies side. It's people just running a lot of traffic through the servers. Trying to stop a DDos attack is super hard because you would need to find the people who are DDos ing and fix it from there. Finding them is the problem they are very secretive... I don't want this to come across as correcting you. And certainly don't want to upset anyone's feelings with this. Take this with a light heart and just putting out my opinion

    • Why would they lie about it? They'd face serious legal consequences for misleading consumers. Plus they're now owned by Sony. Sony wouldn't accept them telling lies about it. With Marathon on the way and Sony rumored making alot of live service games with bungies guidance it wouldn't make sense to lie. This dos attack is nothing. PlayStation and xbox were both hit at Christmas 2014 and went on for like 2 weeks. Amazon reported the biggest attack in history in 2020. Whilst they did manage to stop it the site still went down for like 6 hours many people around the world. Plus they probably have a cyber security response team twice the size of bungie alone.

Considering that they don't want to spend the money that you guys give them for better service, It doesn't matter anymore what it is. This is on them for not investing in this game as they should have years ago to improve the players experience. Oh, but they sure were on the ball these last few years enjoying shoving the shop in your faces and looking for other ways to get your money. Damage control has kicked in since players were flooding this forum before LF was released about not pre-ordering LF, actually, a lot more so than I have ever seen in 9 years and I'm interested in seeing how they are going to try to manipulate some of you players that haven't pre-ordered yet or the ones that say "you won't buy FS", to get you to buy it. The player base makes or breaks a game, and Destiny fans are one of the worst when it comes to people caving in.

        • Why are you so generous with your specualtions? My theory is that these cringe capitalists just tested the waters on min maxing server cost. Cutting resources and reducing recurring cost. Seems like the most likely case imo since they have internally given up on Destiny 2.

I suspect it is a ddos mainly because when it occurs, which is during peak hours but if I play before or after peak I rarely see error code Bee or it simply doesn’t happen.

sounds a bit childish (extremed) for a “DDOS” attack cause their glitch weapon got taken away. “Bungie” would put the blame on someone else then admit the truth that their game is totally bugged (broken) and couldn’t fix the glitch weapon issues that needed patched as promised last Tuesday (09.19.23). “Bungie” opening a can of worms or blame a “DDOS”.

            • There are literal graphs that showcase what’s happening with the servers, there are consistent large spikes meaning in very short periods of time the servers were being overloaded, this has been continuously happening all week. Yes I’m pretty sure they’re being DDoSed lol, if not then they’re DDoSing themselves 😂

              • No company talks about their security measures or security protocols that are in place. Bungie not saying anything is the norm and the people thinking Bungie isn’t doing everything in their power to fix this is extremely naive and probably can’t be reasoned with like most of the people on this forum. My thoughts are that a Bungie employee did screw up somewhere and accidentally opened a door for those attacking Bungie and Bungie is now being held at ransom. This would better explain why the attack is being carried on much longer than others before and is way more plausible than Bungie flat out lying about being DDOS’ed which they wouldn’t do because it’s illegal to lie about that.

Saying how much he cares, saying how making content is hard, saying how some things are out of their control so they need our help and support, saying how much it would mean to him if everyone clicks that pre-order button so they can keep the lights on🤣

                    • Personally I don’t believe them because it is way to coincidental that the server issues happened the moment the update went live and keeping a constant ddos attack is not easy or cheap if they want to do it to a company like bungie then the final nail is why hasn’t a group claimed they are doing it yet

                      • I do believe they would rather leave the game down than have another week with the weapon glitch. I've been unable to play pretty much all week. Sometimes you can't log in, and most of the time you can't go to the tower or run an activity. I think it's funny they didn't just shut the servers down or communicate anything. They should send someone to customer service school so they can upgrade their skills to a fast food level of support. When developers are more worried about shards and trying to force more game time grind than having people be able to play the game.... something is terribly wrong. If anything I think this says that the game is going to be over soon. If they cared they would have taken some sort of action to correct the issues. I can't wait for the b.s. excuse in the next twab/twid.

                      • Yes I do believe it's ddos but honestly I find it odd that the exact time the ddos started is when the new competition for this game started a open beta. Think about it ....

                        • Doesn’t seem too far out there. Personally, I imagine that because of funny guns and how trials is packed full of cheaters, and it all came to a head where funny guns could mess with cheaters… I wouldn’t be surprised if someone knocked it out to preserve their trials positions and income generation from paid carries. It’s easier to decline customers and blame the game for server issues than it is to give refunds because some dude Ammit-shotgun-linear-Grenaded your team. Also, it’s not that big of a deal, with AC VI, Starfield, Sea of Stars, Void Crew, D4 and other games hanging around, there’s enough other stuff to do.

I wonder who came up with that grand idea.....Hmmmm? The gullible crowd, who thinks Bungie is great, ran with this idea. Smh Bungie lying to y'all! They screwed up but were too afraid to say it.
