3.6 billion from Sony and Bungie's servers get taken down by some dingleberry in his underwear in his moms basement, does this seem like they aren't spending the dough on protecting the game?

I'm pretty sure they rented a taco truck for the employees on bungie day! Some Carne asada, carnitas, birria mmm... -blam!- now I'm hungry.

Modificato da Guardian4415: 9/22/2023 12:07:01 AMThis post is stupid. Microsoft and Sony get DDOS'd and look how much money they have?! The -blam!- RCMP have even been DDOS'd and they are literally the police for all of Canada. So let me get this straight. You are complaining that Bungie is being attacked, when companies Bungie doesn't compare to get attacked to, ignoring the fact the Internet is literally built upon being a public access thing, literally trying to say they need better security on something that was invented to be a public library, and the services that you can access, therefore so can hackers. Do you think?

Time to learn how business acquisitions work, my guy.
3.6 billion from Sony and Bungie's servers get taken down by some dingleberry in his underwear in his moms basement, does this seem like they aren't spending the dough on protecting the game?
Seriously why are humans this stupid. There is no future for for humanity when basic concepts such as buying and selling are too difficult to grasp
-
Yeah, they spent about $3.50 on D2.
-
The 3.6 was so they didn’t have to work weekend anymore.
-
to be honest, I dont believe that there is some DDoS, its just bungo who fken up servers
-
No, most of that went into the suit's pockets, I keep saying it but this game is exactly how it's going to be until it finally dies off. Don't expect anything to change.
-
No, because that money went to the private shareholders of Bungie so Sony could buy them.
-
im willing to bet my left nut the bungie team stuffed all that money up their -blam!- so hard it started to come off their mouth
-
I'm sceptical but it remains to be seen unfortunately. We won't be able to tell until after The Final Shape whether the game is actually set to improve in any meaningful way or if we're just stuck with a new seasonal type model, etc.
3.6 billion from Sony and Bungie's servers get taken down by some dingleberry in his underwear in his moms basement, does this seem like they aren't spending the dough on protecting the game?
That's because all the money went right into the pockets of their -blam!- board of directors, they are spending money on woke BS. inclusion, All crap that you really don't need in the game. Basically, they dug themselves into such a deep hole. That I don't think they would even be able to get out of it at this point, which is why they've decided to not spend any money on ddos protection in my personal opinion because they are a bunch of idiots. -
Do you understand the concept of ownership? When someone owns something, they get paid when it is sold. That money doesn’t get reinvested into the company. Please get a clue.
-
Can I buy your house? Then you can spend the money on the house I just bought off you. Many thanks
-
Any money they put in was most likely to improve Eververse
-
Generally due to how these work bungie probably only got 10% of it and likely used 9% of it on their new projects.
-
Play a different game
-
This again ?! Was a while back . We know where the money has gone🤷🏼♂️🙄

Cowboy hat will zoom that. - vecchio
Didn't the news release say like a third of it went to employee rentention to try to convince them to continue putting up with this? So technically, yes. -
Hell no.
-
This topic always exposes how the average person doesn’t know a thing about corporate structures and related topics like acquisitions. $3.6 billion did not go directly to bungie to use freely for game development.

Since this keeps being brought up, here's the SEC filing by Sony that includes Bungie The amount they were paying for Bungie was 3.7B - 2.525B went to buying out Bungie (making sure they bought out every share of the company so Sony owned it wholly) - 1.179B went to employee retention in different forms (payments, potentially shares in Sony etc)
The total consideration of this acquisition, which was determined after customary working capital and other adjustments, was 510,860 million yen (3,704 million U.S. dollars), inclusive of the purchase price and committed employee incentives. Of the total consideration, 348,169 million yen (2,525 million U.S. dollars) was allocated to the purchase consideration of this acquisition, and the remaining 162,691 million yen (1,179 million U.S. dollars) was mainly allocated to deferred payments to employee shareholders that are conditional upon their continuous employment, and other retention incentives. The deferred payments and other retention incentives will be expensed over the required post-acquisition service periods.
Page 54 https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/313838/000119312523027774/d438482d6k.htm

The lions share of resources are being spent on future games, not D2.
-
The money went to investors. As in any business transaction. What a silly post.
does this seem like they aren't spending the dough on protecting the game?
Hell, they aren't even spending the money to design decent content, and with all the reused assets, etc... What makes you think they would spend any money when the community has proven no matter what happens "we will keep throwing money at the screen" 😂🤦♂️
