So anyone can use Tractor Cannon to feel like a nightstalker, but they are using up their exotic and heavy slot to do so. Also, tether reachesany different targets, not just one

Yeah but these seasonal mods such as breech and clear along with particle deconstruction have better utility than tether at debuffing. Do you really need to debuff a bunch of rank-and-file and major enemies? Also when was the last time you heard someone say "we need a tether for damage?"
-
I have a feeling that Bungie is cooling it down with the seasonal debuffs, so we might have a little more help in the boss dps department. It is true that tether was once good at boss dps, but now there are more accessible alternatives. This isn't bad though, it just gives more options. Tether itself was also never intended for just a single boss, it is just how it has been used in the past. Don't think of tether as just a boss killer, but a versatile super that can be used on minors, majors, ultras, or whatever else you want killed.
-
I understand its not mainly for boss dps it was just part of the example for debuffing the last time i recall nightstalker being useful other than boss damage was in D1. In D2, all other supers add clear better including golden gun
-
Yeah, one of the downfalls is that it stays in one spot and once things are dead it generally doesn't get more things in it (unless you place it near a spawn). Idk, I think the power is through the versatility and not so much that it is focused on one thing. It is a trap, a way to stop taking damage, an add killer, a boss killer, and many more things. It is basically decent in every situation unless you hit the ceiling and waste it completely... on that topic, think they'll edit the little hop so that happens less?
-
Little hop?
-
Yeah, the animation when you activate tether makes you go up a small bit so if you're near a ceiling, even if you are aiming down, it hits the ceiling.
-
They did confirm fixing something like that in that void 3.0 breakdown interview. Itll drag you to a stop like silence and squall doesn when you activate your super so you just dont go flying randomly and bumping walls
-
Thats also if they decide to cool down with seasonal debuffing mods but from speculation and everyone's hype it looks like snipers or rocket launchers are gettung the same debuffing mod next season
-
I'm hoping that the debuff will be less than it has been, but even if it isn't the tether makes it so you can use other weapons than just the seasonal one. For example, this season my fireteam used tether with rockets
-
Yes but out of all the fireteams i have seen including LFG since i LFG for literally everything thats not solo queued, not one has said it. More or less get flamed at, told to use something else or get kicked because tether isn't viable
-
That's sad. People need to honestly be a little more casual with the game and just let people use whatever they want. I remember a time where 3 phasing a raid was the norm. Now you have to use cheeses and certain loadouts so you can 1 phase, otherwise people don't want you. The funny part is that trying so hard to 1 phase often times takes as long as just doing the encounter as it was designed.
-
That literally happened last night when I did VOG fireteam leader was making all hunters run Flux grenades with divinity. Didnt 1 phase him. We wiped.
-
Itll still overshadow debuffs like the seasonal debuffs do the same amount of debuffing or more and the devs say that since nightstalker is a super its effects take precedence over others. So if the seasonal debuff mod is slightly less or at the level then theres less of a point to having tether. D1 tether was more viable mainly because it generated orbs on each one tethered and now it takes like 2-4 adds to just generate 1 orb for your team
-
You know, I never got the chance to play a nightstalker in D1, but I really wanted to. I am really hoping that the seasonal debuff is only like 25% or something. I am pretty excited about the smoke bomb getting the ability to weaken as well, and then there's also the fragment to make grenades do it as well. Overall, I think even if the tether doesn't compete with the seasonal debuff, we will at least have one fun neutral game.
-
I also know weaken only applies 15% but then seasonal would override it since it does more and then weaken theres no point. They have shifted the community into focusing into the meta which in turn hav3 made the community less likely to run fun stuff because its not efficient enough
-
Yeah, I don't think a neutral game ability that we will be able to use almost 100% of the time should outdo the seasonal debuff. I do think that the seasonal debuff will mostly be used for boss damage, though there is hope that the tether would outdo that. In either case. I'm content with the changes whether the debuff is outdone by tether or not.
-
Well i believe they said that Moebius will be doing a bit more damage now since the changes of suppression on hit which applies the tether debuff on hit cuz the 5 arrows after the first initial arrow hit cuz rapidly now since its a 2 shot spreadshot
-
The thing im curious that are implementing and hope that it actually does do it is that nightstalker suppresses on impact. In D1, that is what it did even if it didnt tether on the target hit. The target that fully takes on a Tether Arrow was immediately killed or if they survived somehow would be knocked out of super if they had it active immediately.
-
From the gameplay, I think that we might be getting exactly that. I've been hoping for that change since I never got to play the D1 nightstalker, but have always wanted to have a quicker tether with impact suppression.
-
They did say the shot animation for tether is much faster so itll get the arrows out much faster
-
If the debuff is 25% tether is just not worth using because you can run soemthing else to do burst damage like goldie and flux grenades on top of dealing damage with the seasonal weapon
-
Yes, possibly. But that is also like saying you could use tractor cannon or divinity instead of tether. There's always a trade off. Also flux grenades? I wasn't aware that was a legit strat.
-
Modificato da Jin: 2/17/2022 6:28:28 PMFlux grenades with divinity at Atheon is doing about 200k dmg per grenade and you can basically outdamage the seasonal debuffs with it or you can be on par with seasonal mod weapons without divinity. Cooldown no issue because of Time's Vengeance buff for that energy regen.
-
Lol, reminds me of how titans can just hammer a boss to death right now.
-
Well titan and warlocks outclass hubters in PVE and the constant nerfing to hunters will soon throw them ever further below and somewhat on par or below in pvp with the other classes
