Felwinter Fail

Alright so here I am with some quick math - I will just put it here 1310/8 = 163.75 Now to simplify this it is the next season's power cap ( divided by 8 since there is 8 pieces ) to equal how much each piece will be worth next season No problem yet right? right Ok now onto what I was talking about next season Bungie is compromising by bringing back Felwinter's since it will be sunset right? Ok now onto what this was really about. If you do the math with Felwinters being sunset at 1260 which is -50 below the 1310 cap then you have to do 50/8 since 8 power is 1 full power level That gives you 6.25 THAT WILL DROP YOU LESS THAN 7 LIGHT That isn't even a difference in ranked gamemodes or PVE god forbid you use it in the raid or something. Do the right math bungie come on.

TL/DR: you are right it won’t change your experience, but your reasoning seems to be off. Here’s my explanation: I haven’t done any testing in PvP playlists with level advantages enabled, so I won’t comment on that part. However, I do know that in basic PvP, the power level of the weapon you are using does not matter. There is no debating that. As for PvE content, damage numbers are based on the environment. First we need to establish how this system works. A 1260 weapon will do the same damage as a 1250 of the same archetype in environments equal to or under 1250. Most core activities and destinations are at 1050 and the same principle applies there as well. Since you mentioned the raid, If 1220 remains the recommended Power in Deep Stone Crypt, which if we go by previous raids then it will, then it won’t change your experience using Felwinter’s Lie. I have some numbers to help understand. I did all of my testing in the 1250 Legend Nightfall. Here I used the Guiding Sight High Impact Frame Scout rifle. I have one at 1250 and one at 1260. Here are my numbers: 1250 Guiding Sight Total Power Level:1279 Total Damage per shot: 1875 1260 Guiding Sight Total Power Level: 1254 (not a typo either) Total Damage per shot: 1875. I have a few examples to share with you to show the difference it can make. This is where your experience will be changed in high level Nightfalls, Power Enabled PvP, and whatever else they decide to keep raising the recommended power. I used three different weapons of the same archetype being 140 RPM hand cannons. Here is a list of the weapons I used, their power, and my total power level. All tests were performed in a 1250 Legend Nightfall. 1260 Dire Promise Total Power: 1280 Damage: 2815 1226 Old Fashioned Total Power: 1276 Damage: 2595 1050 Midnight Coup Total Power: 1254 Damage: 741 😬 You may not notice a huge difference the first season after it is sunset, but I can almost guarantee you will notice it once it is 100+ Levels under the recommended.
