•

Fixed that faster than the “flashing glitch”
Some things are easier to fix.
Yes.... removing an advert from the store is definitely a lot less complicated than stopping a single in game icon from flashing..... it takes months to fix that kind of complicated issue

 • Are you familiar with the engine and processes bungie uses and needs to use to stop the flashing?

 • No I'm not I'm also not claiming how simple of a task it is as I'm aware of my ignorance on the topic.

 • And I am not claiming to be a AAA games developer while failing to fix a single, blinking icon..... for over a month ... I mean, just turn the icon off. They already have for the factions, so someone deep at Bungie must still know where the off switch is.... 😅

 • Maybe they fired the icon guy before he could fix the eververse icon

 • Seeing as several of their staff have admitted to a problem with cross-training at Bungie, I would not be at all surprised 😏

 • For sure, that store is probably online loaded from some database, so they can change that database entry just in few clicks. At similar way they are able to disable specific items and prevent them to use. Removing flashing icon... It depends wher bug is. Probably baked somewhere in source code, which you have to compile and you need make build of game, test it for some period of time if there is no visible problem with build, then you have to send that patch to Steam/Google/MS/Sony to their repository and they have to check it and approve it, then they can deploy that game build to players. That approval process is paid service, so you do not rush new build just becouse of no game breaking error. You have to add some time for replicate bug and find exact place in source code where bug is. For some bungs it is very hard to replicate them in some test environment. And finally when you find faulty code, you cant easily fix it in some cases as fix can broke another part of game and you need deeper impact analysis and rework big part of source code, even fix seem it is easy to fix.

 • A) They should already have a test build of their game B) There is an incredibly simple fix. Just remove the icon. They block access to guns, they switch off and on Saladin once a month... just switch it off.

 • The 800 was likely a typo and could be changed easily. To fix the flashing, they would have to identify what was causing it first and then provide a fix.

 • Psssst, it wasn't a typos, they removed the advertising which led to it, but the core issue is still in the game as it shows up through the app. But sure, it takes a company the size of Bungie months to fix a blinking icon 😅

 • Maybe fix of blinking icon is bug comes from some deep area of source code and fixing it can broke somehting different and they have to reengeneer some part of that code from scratch. Many times small bugs leads to huge fixes in source codes.

 • And yet it wasn't an issue until recently, which narrows it down considerably, and there are some very simple fixes

 • Games like Destiny are too complex. Evenrything is related to everything, you will fix one bug and that bugfix will introduce another bug in different part of game or will occur at different scenarios. I working as software developer, analyst and application support for 20 years, from my experience I know that for users "easy fix" often need some hard work. And of course on big project where there is lot of new development, lot of bugs, but limited amount of resources (developers, analysts, testers...) you have to prioritize what you want/have to do first. This flashing icon is annoying, but not game breaking bug, gameplay is unaffected, so no need for isntant solution or quick bugfix = low priority. Another example is Eververse feedback as many players here saying that Bungie have to take care about bugs and new content than fill Eververse store. But those people pretent that there is developer which do everything, which is not case. Eververse need some artist, some 3D modeler and some graphic guy which will do textures for 3D model from artist's concept arts. Result of they work is just added to some game resources library. No programming needed, no analysis needed, and finally do not need big amount of testing. Other teams working on story/scripts, gaming mechanics, sandbox developers (balance of gear, guns, skills...), game engine, tools for level desingers, tools for AI logic, UI developers, database developers, network specialists, cloud services specialists, system administrators..... Lot of people responsible for specific part of game with specific knowledge. Those teams are independent and can do own stuff, for sure some teams have somehow cooperate with other teams... For some fixes you need coopeartion of more teams.

 • Turn.... the.... icon.... off..... Simple. They do it every month with Saladin... They do it every single event with Eva...
