If I'm being frank, I'm not a big fan of D1. I used to have Destiny on PS3 just before Rise of Iron, so I don't consider myself to be a Destiny 1 veteran; and after having pretty much gotten to par on a PS4 proper(Rise of Iron and all), I gotta say: Destiny 1 is way too overrated.
The game may have better raids, subclass customization and faster pvp times to kill, but aside from the glorification of Trials and the raids themselves(the former I never once participated in and have only raided less than 10 times in D1 total), there's so little that D1 has that can actually compare to the sheer depth of D2 the moment Forsaken launched.
Destiny 2 has more exotics, more quests, more subclasses, new subclass supers(for the most part, sorry Arcstrider), a ton of new guns and weapon perks, better PvP balancing in Y2 for special ammo, a better vanilla Campaign, better DLC that constantly built upon certain features(people forget that Curse of Osiris actually birthed the idea of forging your own weapons), a better armor system, a less-grindy planetary system, more planets, 5 entirely new weapon types in Bows, Tube-fed grenade launchers, heavy grenade launchers, submachine guns and linear fusion rifles.
Destiny 1 has the age of triumph, which I admit was really freaking cool, but again, overrated if you don't raid or do trials.
Comparing the two games is honestly just getting tired, Destiny 2 is far and away the better game, even if you have some gripes about how you don't have your chroma holographic age of triumph trials gear, or your faction sets(which honestly would do little more than add more grind to the game).

OK Frank ,Let me tell you something .I'll take quality over quantity. This isn't to say I don't enjoy playing D2 now ,it has come a long way since it was first launched . D1 Raids ,strikes,Crucible>D2 .

But that was only AFTER the community left the game by the hundreds of thousands after the flop that Destiny 2 was during the whole first year. Which means we only had one full year of D2 until now and even then, despite D2 having improved and being full of things to do, it still lacks in comparison to D1 after Taken King launch. More quantity doesn't mean better quality and that's exactly the difference that makes D1 better: way more quality across the board in D1, be it in PvE or PvP.

I remember players often freaking out with joy over the mic when an exotic or hard-to-find legendary dropped in D1. Don't hear that too much in D2. That says a lot.
-
One thing I gotta correct because it still bothers me. D2 does not have more exotics than D1. D1 has nearly 200 exotics while D2 sits at 140. More exotics Bungie, less Vex offensives.

Your opinion doesn’t matter then

Modificato da RingersCheckmate: 11/12/2019 4:45:59 PMI wouldn't even say D1 had flat out better raids. Garden>VoG, Last wish>Kings fall. I still think WoTM has the title for best raid, with great mechanics and music. Garden of salvation is great too on both fronts, but it's just not long enough for me. Trials was always a joke to me. Loot looked awesome, but PvP was always ruled by special weapons. It got to the point where trials and PvP got Shotgun precision damage removed altogether, and special ammo became a rare occurence in PvP.

House of wolves was the best time of destiny in my personal opinion, the taken king added a lot of great content as well. You even admit to not coming into destiny 1 until literally just before the end. Destiny 2 at this point does have a lot more content, but more isn't always better. Quality over quantity. A lot of that "new" content is just reskinned, reused content. Not to say D2 is bad, I certainly enjoy many aspects of it, but to say it's better in every way when you only experienced a small portion of the original is certainly not a fair comparison.
not a big fan of D1
I’m gonna stop you right there-

Hi.
No.
-
D1 = quality D2 = quantity If bungie had just continued to build on d1 to make it the 10 year experience they were promising before launch, it could've been the greatest game ever made!
-
D1 isn’t overrated, its just Y1 was way better than Y2-Y3.

Modificato da TJ_Dot: 11/10/2019 5:19:29 PMAt least in D1, I didn't have the added benefit of hating the general state of the game and where it's going. Rentable disposable content, whooooooooo... I really should do Vex offensive once, but I kinda hate being on the game, plus having no space for anything, and not supporting this BS removal of content just because the plot of the world has advanced beyond it. Strikes and raids still exist long past their relevance in the story. No point this shouldn't with it's tiny ass file size either.

Sorry but you're wrong.

Modificato da Tru-Zrue: 11/11/2019 2:43:39 PM..... This is even more cringed than my store ffs. Wow Edit: guy saids he started out in D2. Sooooo for damn sure missed out on dinner when it was hot. That's what destiny 1 and 2 is. Fomo.
-
Quantity, got it
-
D2 is a better game except for the following: 1) no factions 2) no trials 3) lack of vendor refreshes 4) lack of weapons in general 5) no strike specific loot 6) Eververse obviously 7) no arms day 8) iron banner isn't updated like it was 9) weapons feel like you're always going for one specific roll. D1 had perk variety 10) boring rank up rewards while using tokens Etc....
-
You made my spit out my drink when you said D2 had depth Good joke man😂
-
D2 is awful, the only kids who love d2 are the ones who started playing when it came out.
-
Get out of here then! D1 is way better...you're just blind
-
Yep, played D1 most of the way through and I've always thought D2 was better. Both good though and not much point comparing them at this point.
-
Modificato da GozerTheGozerian: 11/10/2019 10:33:32 AMDestiny 2 sucks compared to Destiny.
-
You didn't have 4/5ths of the game. On PS3 you only had access to D1Y1,. Year 2 is when Destiny 1 got better. The reason everybody is/was upset with D2 is, at launch, it was waaaaay more shallow in every way possible. D2 has gotten better, but it still is not even close to being as vast and entertaining D1 was in Age Of Triumph, which should have been their starting point. Instead they made a shit game and drip feed quality of life updates for a premium cost to us. not cool.
-
Destiny didn't become a truly great game until Age of Triumph dropped. It was at that point we saw a fully realized Destiny game, and it was glorious. Will Destiny 2 have it's own version of that? Only time will tell.
-
Elemental primaries. Enough said. 🤡
-
D1 was fun in pretty much every regard. D2 is not. The end.
-
Destiny 1 DLC's had better story than d2 DLC'S. Except forsaken, that rocked.
