Eververse Cosmetic prices are ridiculous! Give me a reason to give you money!

Let's talk about price for a moment. I hate to help a company sell microtransactions better, but hear me out: If your prices are high enough that it's not even reasonable to consider them -at all- then I will never buy a cosmetic. $7 for a skin for a single armor or weapon? That is a whole, high quality indie game! $21 for a pack of 3 finishers? That's half an expansion pack or a AAA game from a year or two ago on sale! Once you've cracked my wallet open I'm likely to spend more, but if your prices are so ridiculous that I'm not going to consider it then you don't get a dime. Wouldn't 300 people out of 1,000 players buying a few items at $3 a piece be better than 50 whales out of 1,000 players buying everything? Especially when the whales buy everything either way? I just can't believe anyone looks at an animation or skin and says, "Yeah, people will be happy to pay $7-$8 for just that!". There's some cool stuff here, but as someone who works for a living I can't justify using the store for anything but bright dust. Not when I could cook a meal for the cost of a single cosmetic. On a more positive note, season pass is pretty good, feels like a decently rewarding content track for the money, even if the mossy season armor is of...questionable aesthetic taste.

  • Not only are the prices ridiculous, but how the entire silver system is setup is predatory. It’s purposefully setup so that you never have the exact amount you need. You will always have some left over no matter how you buy so you’re incentivized to buy more since you have some leftover. It’s predatory micro transactions 101, and I’ll never support a system like this in any game.

    • They aren't going to change the prices. The cost of mtx is based on the low percentage (20 to 25% if I remember correctly) of gamers that buy them. Read: If you buy mtx, you are needlessly overpaying because the majority doesn't buy them.

      • Everything should start at 200 silver (the price of a single engram, the things these used to come in) and go up SLIGHTLY based on rarity/item type. The increase is for the convenience to buy the item outright, this 700-1100 shit is way too high. Bright dust prices on the other hand are astronomically high. 1500 for a legendary ghost projection? Armor ornaments are cheaper than that, hell legendary ships are a third of that.

      • It’s simple. Bungie makes the game. Bungie sets the prices. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it. If you can afford it, but you want to shake your fist in angst just like every other social justice warrior on the forums, try inserting it into your ass.

        • It’s definitely predatory practices. Nothing sells for 500 silver just 600 thus you have to buy 1000 silver. They should make everything 1000 silver since that’s what you have to spend anyway. Stay woke guardians. The evil of the light is the light itself.

        • I agree with you, but trust me they are priced that way for a reason, there are plenty of people out there buying this mess ruining it for the rest of us. Eververse wouldn't be as big as it is if they wasnt making money.

        • If skins were like $1 a piece, I would actually consider it, and it would help knowing that all profits are going to Bungie, not Activision. But since they are SO EXPENSIVE, I never buy any ever.

        • Bungie should make normal prices not this left over bs. They want to be industry leaders but do nothing different from the industry norm. C’mon Bungie be different! Everyone is familiar with these tactics, break out of the mtx meta and do something different. Basically be more like CD Projekt Red and less like all the rest!

        • Not saying you were part of the raging defenders of Eververse, but those of us who came to the forums in droves when Eververse was being spoken about and during the launch of Eververse, trying to let everyone know what will happen if we dont stop Eververse; only to be harassed, personally attacked, TONS of CoC violations (no Ninja Justice as it is one sided) with no accountability, we warned you all who are now complaining about Eververse that this will happen. We told you so. Now you are reaping your own despair. Next step for Eververse will no longer be selling cosmetic items, it will be selling Weapons/Armor/Perks/Exotic Engrams etc., etc. with game stats and rolls.

          • Anyone who looks and complain about the price and then buy anyway... your the problem. Too high? Don’t buy. Price is right, then bite. The prices will adjust over time to what we are willing to pay.

          • In mobile games they call them whales. Bungie is selling a base product for the lemming masses and then focusing on people with Deep Pockets and Big Spenders that will pay these ridiculous prices for minimal effort. It's not about making a good game and improving it, it's about producing enough addictive gameplay to try to hook as many big ones as possible so they can maximize their profit. They are creating a cycle of addiction instead of a video game at this point and they know exactly what they're doing. So much for post Activision Bungie

Do you have an overwhelming desire to buy everything in a store when you walk in? Personally I only see maybe and that's a big maybe. One item a season I truly dig. Sorta like walking into a thrift shop, everything looks cool but you dont have any need for it. Fleeting question in my head. How much would they need to sell the new dlc's in order to just to break even if they had zero mirco transactions? That's not even counting the fact that the workers need pay increases, benefits ect just like an standard business would. Would a monthly sub of 9.99 USD be enough to cover it all and offer the same AAA gaming experience?

                • Worst part is Eververse prices are the same cost for people with and without the season pass. So it doesn't matter if you already paid god know show much for the game you must pay more. Bungie is clearly going the Activision route even harder. They're almost EA at this point.

                    • For me the game was free to download and its free to play. If they compensate being able to do that by selling stuff in game then that's great (: Same with Halo 5. They were able to add and add and add to that game without having to charge a single player for any of it by making money from in game cosmetics from loot boxes. I have absolutly no problem with any dev doing that as long as it doesnt turn into pay to win....because of course that sucks.

                      • My nephew gets $20.00 a week for his pocket money. He’s 10years old and he plays Destiny with his Dad. Good kid. Saves his money. Washes my car for extra cash. His Dad helps him buy toys and games online. The kid thinks $5 is expensive. $5 is fine. Lol. It’s nice to stay within a company theme of using the number 7 aka $7 ... but gotta consider the little kiddo customers too. Maybe add a Discount Coupon on the Season XP Calendar as an item to earn for the younger kids who are on a school allowance. Everyone gets what they want plus it raises gameplay to chase the Eververse discount coupons. Nice post. Have a nice day. 🙂👍🤙
