Bungie, It Is Time to Talk About Loadouts

With the addition of Shadowkeep, Armor 2.0, and all the stuff happening with that, it has become clear that we need a way of saving specific loadouts. We need a way to set up a certain set of weapons, armor, and mods..save it..and then 1 click when we want to use that setup. There also needs to be a way to adjust, or change saved loudouts. This would be a very welcome QoL thing.

  • Was the destiny companion app made by bungie or a third party because I use it all the time and that would be a perfect place to put loadout if they can’t fit it into the game. Especially since you can equip items from the app already.

Ideally this should be in the game, (like matchmaking and lfg, which is disgusting that it's not included in 2019 ), but there are multiple excellent solutions I'm surprised some of you guys dont know about. Destiny item manager... Works perfectly on PC in the background or on a second screen. And/or if on console install The vault, Ishtar Commander, or Little Light on your phone. You can pull from postmaster, send or take from vault on the fly, and save and equip loudouts. Also the Alexa ghost app works on all Alexas, not just the destiny branded one I think for saving loudouts (I could be wrong but 90% sure). Dim on pc is better than a system built into the game and the phone apps are almost as good. I dont see how it's even possible to play the game for a long session without these tools. I always want to pull weapons from vault to my guardian in the field...

  • This was a thing if you bought the $400 Alexa ghost version. Can save loadouts and say "ghost, loadout 3" or whatever. Funny how they gated it behind a stupid voice activation accessory than putting it in the game.

    • A bit like Diablo 3 does. Save a set with a name. Once you select it it is equiped if you miss an item it will show a message. What also would be nice is if you can do this without going back to the vault in the tower.

    • I was just saying this to my wife over the weekend. It would be nice to have my armor sets all together. Then one click to use it. When you put them in the vault, they get all mixed up and you have to hunt for them.

    • I don't think you're aware of how very very hard it is for game devs to make QoL changes and content these days. You demand so much from these Devs, you act like you're paying them to make video games or something! This is disgusting, video game developers shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap, just leave them alone, they're busy counting money.

      • Yup. For you boobs out there saying use a 3rd party app, put your fan boy hats away. The Division has load out saves. CoD has had it for years. Even Anthem has load out saves.

        • As a PC player - I prefer it remain 3rd party. The audacity in this thread, from a dev perspective is unbelievable. If you think that Bungie is going to be able to put in the time & cost to implement this at the same standard as 3rd party tools with API tooling, you're either naive or just don't understand how this stuff works. Do you remember how much of an issue it was to increase Vault size? Have you ever wondered why World of Warcraft still has addons 15 years later for things that aren't available in the base game? The technical limitations and the absolute undertaking this would be to implement is unfathomable by at least 80% of the people in this thread, not to mention an impossibility for consoles. Also, Destiny Item Manager is absolutely amazing - you'll never get that functionality in game, ever.. Silly peoples.

            • 100% agree! I’ve been saying this since Forsaken, it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t exist. General PVE, PvP, Raid, Gambit, those are just the bare minimum of load outs one needs.

Sure it's a useful feature, but when third party solutions like DIM or Ishtar already handle it well, i don't think a half baked ingame implementation would be necessary. Given how slow Destiny 2 ui is to navigate, i doubt it would be any faster than alt tabbing to DIM to change to a saved loadout.

              • I'm using the companion app on my phone to browse the forums. What I was thinking is perhaps a feature on here? If it's here already then don't mind me, I'm dumb. But, I play Elite Dangerous. There's a player/fan made project that allows you to create a "blueprint" for a build of a ship, complete with stats. You can then name the build, and save it. Allowing you to see what you need for it, and when you build it? Delete the blueprint. Or keep it for future reference. I think something like this would be very helpful on the app side of things. The issue? Is there enough manpower to do such a thing? Bungie did kinda dive into the deep end head first. They had help, but still are solo if they're being truthful. We don't fully see what's going on behind the scenes there.

                • Yep. I didn’t use it that much in CoD, but for Destiny it would be a nice QoL change. Even if it’s the same armour and different guns. You can’t do that down to the mod level that would be too complex, but even just the gear and the guns. Here’s my gambit set, my sniper set, my CQB set, etc.

Agreed. And including artifact load outs. Having to reset it depending on whether you want to use void subclass or arc, or whether you're going to be the "unstoppable" guy or the "overload guy" or the "anti-barrier" guy is dumb. Especially if you're using matchmaking or lfg, because you have no idea what you're going to need. Side note: artifact is op and p2w, getting basically infinite handheld supernovas or titans having one hit melee, the new light players have no chance in crucible... unless they pay, of course.

                • Even mobile strategy/mmo games have multiple load out presets. I'd rather spend 30 seconds activating a saved load out than about 90 seconds switching weapons and gear everytime I load into a different map in pvp.
