Hey Cozmo, I loved the 2v2. I'm a decent-ish player in pvp, and the way this crimson 2v2 was set up felt good to me. There were multiple objectives simultaneously at play (kill sh**, don't die; stay close to your your teammate to avoid being 'seen' and to buff the ability charge rates). These multiple objectives forced me to adapt my playing style to meet the objectives and chase wins, also making me think more and ultimately enjoy the experience win or lose. If it's in the works, bringing this kind of 2v2 back into rotation would make me happier overall. I'm bummed at this point with the state of the player base, but I recognize that it's not actually in a 'death knell' as some folks scream about. It is down though, and those pvp updates, if they can be moved up to the top of the update list, I think would help considerably (6v6, 2v2, private match infrastructure). Also, glad we get to keep the updated map. Cheers.

  • I enjoyed it and I usually don't like pvp. Was nice to encourage players to stick together which imo is what they should always do.

    • As much as I've been bashing the game, the sticking together perk and increasing grenade recharge was a nice touch. The rounds went quickly too which is a HUGE bonus. However as with all activities the incentive wasn't there to actually chase anything, so I only put myself through about eight games. Also it seemed like a charge for the same heavy spot. The heavy spot should rotate to a different area each round.

      • Not enough to keep me from playing for honor. Also I'm surprised that crimson doubles didn't require you to make a fireteam of two. N it just link you up with a random. That loses a certain spark the crimson doubles had in D1. Where the player had to ask a friend or his girl to play with him for it. I asked a girl out last time

      • I have to re-iterate in case it got missed, putting a marker on someone who's teammate left them is just wrong. If anything, the team of two remaining should have markers over their heads. As it stands, if your teammate leaves you will have a perpetual marker over your head until someone new joins. I just think that's really crappy.

I have put a lot of playtime in Crimson Doubles playlist, you can check my stats, here is my feedback: Number one, above everything else: DO SOMETHING ABOUT MATCHING PARTIES WITH SOLO PLAYERS! This is the most frustrating, the most game-breaking thing in D2 PvP. Absence of any skill-based matchmaking makes it even worse for both solo players and parties: solo players suffer the most as they have to play game where they will lose, no matter how hard they try, and they can see it so they quit playing or quit trying and just grind for engrams. Only the most relentless people stay, but still, they don't improve when they play because parties of 2 will turn every encounter into 2v1 with the magic of communication and cooperation that solo players don't have, because of Bungie's decision to make voice communication of solo players as hard and as counter-intuitive as possible. Call of Duty used to not allow being in a console voice chat party while playing Search and Destroy so everyone would at least listen. CS GO on XBLA disallowed hiding in console voice chat parties while playing matchmaking. People had to communicate and that (also skill-based MM) is exactly why they could be matched against a stack and still don't feel like there is nothing they could do against it! When everyone is forced to be in the same voice channel something magical could happen: team play in a team based game, imagine that! People could also share their experience, good loadouts and strategies. It also creates many unforgettable moments like full teams singing during the game, great friendships and fun insight into foreign languages and cultures. It breaks the monotony, it makes losing less painful and frustrating, it makes social game social again. It connects different people from all over the world, people with the same interest, just like in Halo 2, remember that, Bungie? Halo 2 and Halo 3 were so cool because there was always real people talking to each other in a lobby! Before voice chat parties came to consoles, before multiplayer games became lonely and asocial. Bungie state in Guided games description that people need to communicate in Raids and Nightfalls, they try to force communication in these activities, but they don't do that in most demanding, most team based activity: The Crucible. I don't know why they contradict themselves like that. Then there is absence of skill-based matchmaking. Games are all about the challenge and getting better, especially team-based games where skilled individual can barely do anything without equally skilled teammates. Lack of skill-based matchmaking breaks this game PvP on many levels and also creates incredibly toxic environment. Good players playing solo are forced to play games that they cannot win, what is the point of trying when you can clearly see that you have no chance to win this match? Parties are forced to play games that they cannot lose, only in the rare occasion when one party matches another there could be a sweaty, equal match, but many parties just quit in this scenario, because they will lose their good stats that they got from destroying solo players way below their skill level, or maybe because they feel uncomfortable that they might actually lose after so many easy rigged wins. It is disgusting and horrible. It is exactly like bulling: beating someone who cannot fight back. I just can't believe how crazy it is: Bungie tries their hardest to stop strangers from communicating with voice in their game, because someone might bully someone. It's like making dates illegal because somebody, somewhere can have bad experience. But their matchmaking is configured in such way, that basically we have "Bullying or getting Bullied The Game" instead of competitive multiplayer with equal matches, we have matches that are so obviously rigged to be won or lost, instentional or not, this is bad.

      • Full disclosure: I haven’t played it, but I have watched people playing it and read the comments about it. If you are on the forum complaining about grenade or ability “spamming” then you are part of the problem with D2. Ultimately, Bungie is responsible for the watered-down, weak, neutered mess of D2, but they built it to cater to players like you that hate fun. All of PVP should play like Crimson Doubles and the best part of the Destiny universe (PVE) wouldn’t be suffering due to your asinine perspectives. One other note, it is clear that the power ammunition economy for all PVP needs revisiting - possibly reverting to D1’s method of distribution as the best option.

        • I imagine that no one from Bungie will read this, but here is a summary of my experience with this event. Gameplay: Permanent invisible hunters, grenade spam. Matched against the same team 4 times in a row (aforementioned invisible hunters). Kept getting the same two maps and never experienced the new (not new D1 map) once. Rewards: One sparrow, 7 ghosts. (PvE included) Only played the doubles crucible mode for 5 complete matches. Had fun in the first match that went to sudden death. The second match was those dirty exploitative hunter twats. We left the next three matches that magically found us matched against the same dirtbags and promptly moved to a strike to make sure we wouldn't see them again. It was crazy. How does that happen? It felt like we were the only four people playing the game! Whatever the formula in D1 was, it worked. This iteration of Destiny just doesn't. I will say, you make the best feeling FPS EVER! It's a shame that the environment built is not worthy of the mechanics.

        • It was fun overall, even better than the first Destiny 1 Crimsom. most annoying to play against were Titan Defender and Arcstrider Hunter. That Skip grenade and suppression grenade were the more cheesiest strategy yet.

          • Crimson doubles is one of the most enjoyable experiences in Destiny 2. The pacing due to ability bonus (reunited?) is good fun. One exception to that is double pulse or double skip grenades, which seem to be spammed obnoxiously. Some refinement there could benefit the experience, but overall I dig the ability recharge bonus. The vengeance bonus is great, it really adds a twist to combat tactics. 2s in general is very fun - i like the dynamic as it fits into d2 and it's welcome variety to the 4s repetition. The ability to queue up with one friend is not to be overlooked. The team that has power control is at a massive advantage, but it is termed "power", so... The tie breaker round is great, it's fitting it's elimination style with cap point - very "final" feeling. Overall CD has a delightful blend of team-play and individual power. I have been able to carry teammates to victory which is very rewarding. And at the same time when playing with my guys, we can capitalize on our chemistry. I find myself wanting to play this mode exclusively this week and it's hard to tear myself away to do the nf or raid for the other rewards. More of this unique gameplay and diversity please!

            • Probably the least fun I've had in the Crucible lately, and that's saying something. IF you brought your own partner then perhaps it was great. Being paired with a random partner however was excruciating: fewer than half seemed to understand staying in close proximity to your partner was key. And of course, in 2v2 the impact of one clueless/less able guardian can throw the match. FWIW I would prefer to see MORE guardians, not fewer, in the next special event.

            • Playing the crimson days, I remembered a bit of what the dynamics of pvp in destiny1 (speed of reloading skills) was. With regard to the mechanics of skills (grenades and melee): - Grenades ready much faster, this enabled me several power plays, where I easily managed to face several enemies at once, everyone knows that in destiny 2 all players go together and that it is impossible to kill someone who walks with his squadron on the side whole match, but with ready skills faster this was possible. Another very important thing in destiny 2 was a change in the amount of players in a match (4v4) that I particularly abhor. In the crimson days I had that brief emotion of playing a 3v3 of the deceased osiris challenges (THE MOST PERFECT GAME MADE ALREADY DONE BY YOU) I do not know why it disappeared from the game and was replaced by that boring and annoying way called Challenges of the 9! So, I leave the observation, pvp needs the characters to have their skills ready faster, characters that move faster (mainly arcane and titan) BRING YOUR ANCIENT PLANARS BACK. AND LAST AND MORE IMPORTANT BRING MORE MODES TO THE PVP, MAINLY THE 3V3 ELIMINATION BACK !!!!! I AM A PLAYER OF THE BRAZILIAN COMMUNITY, WE ARE FORGOTTEN BY YOU IF YOU WATCH THAT COMMUNITY (GIANT) you will have a huge return of POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO YOUR GAME! SOMEONE AGREE ???? • The highlight was definitely the Burnout map for me! Loved the reimagined burning shrine. I liked the game mode but I didn't enjoy how it WAS played by most. It really was an ability spam fest that heavily favoured nightstalkers and arcstriders. It highlighted how much of an advantage nightstalkers have over all other classes in general, and brought to light how over powered double/ quadruple skip grenades are. So many times I was literally chased by multiples skip grenades with no chance of survival because they track so aggressively and fast. And whoever got first heavy...usually the team with the most hunters, they would usually go on to continually wipe the opposition and hold heavy for the remainder of the match. That said I did have some great matches and some hero moments so I can't say I didn't enjoy it overall. I actually think you went the wrong way with the crimson buffs, instead of promoting and strengthening the hand holding tactics that the game already employs. you should have used the D1 crimson buffs or basically the opposite of what you did. Increase movement speed and weapon handling/ ability recharge rates for being away from your team mate/ being the last guardian standing. And also reversed the enemy indicator so it showed up when the team was close together ( and without their buffs ) and made it dissappear when they split up and gained their buffs. This would have made for more fun in my opinion and allowed for a greater versatility in playstyle and also lessened the advantages that 2 nighstalker/ arcstriders skips would have had. Maybe next time hey?😉

              • 1. More vault space for “collection” armor (why is this even a problem after it got fixed in D1?) 2. More shader slots (maybe the amount actually in the game?) 3. More mod slots (maybe the amount actually in the game?) 4. More armor (stop reskinning your trash!) 5. More weapons (stop reskinning your trash!) 6. More maps (I’d even settle for a legacy system what was available in D1 at this point because if I have to see another “new map” being advertised that’s simply a reskin from D1, I’m gonna lose it) 7. Crimson Doubles encouraged team shooting even more than usual. The drift apart debuff prevented any real tactics from being exercised because the moment you left more than 10M from your teammate, you pop up as an icon. How does one flank when that occurs? It’s antithetical to strategic use of any map and promotes campy, linear gameplay. I’m just tired. Tired of looking the same as everyone else in the Tower. Tired of the outrageous Bright dust costs for cosmetics. Tired of lackluster creativity with subclasses. Tired of the condensed skill ceiling that never existed in D1 and wasn’t necessary in D2. Tired of the only fan base Bungie being worried about is the casual one that plays the content for a week and leaves. Tired of making excuses for the lack of overall content this game has. I spent 4,000+ hours in D1. I’m hardly able to justify getting online at all anymore. It pains me to say that. I love the Destiny universe but what we see in game is the equivalent of a small city by comparison. This game has so much potential and it’s been botched so badly for the past six months. I played 5 games of Crimson Doubles today and it just felt bleh. There’s nothing special about anything being offered and I know the same stuff is coming back around next year, so why bother until the game itself is in a better state?

                • I don't like it. Also don't like being driven to play PvP for "better rewards" or "increased chance to get rewards". And I mean, these rewards are meh... Ghosts, Sparrows, Shaders... If I wanted to play PvP I would play Battlefield 1 which is far superior in terms of PvP. Trials of the Nine is a garbage mode, so is 2v2, a mini-Trials, mini-garbage. Highlight of the mode: grenade spam

And bring back the blue flames.” It’s a pretty straightforward message that gets the point across in a clear and concise manner. I’m sure they’ll understand exactly what it means.
