I hope that it was a typo. If not can some supply a reason for moving contest mode raid to a friday?
The debacle that was VoW. If servers or any major issue happens during raid day on a Saturday, one of the days where D2 gets the most traffic, the devs aren't going to be in the office as Bungie is a M-F workspace. They at home resting after doing crunch getting the raid and new content ready. If servers go off or have issues, it takes a looooong time to get them back right because people have to cut their days off short resting to fix the servers. These issues take a large amount of manpower to fix quickly, thus its better to have the raid be on a weekday... just like every MMO releases their raids on weekdays.

If you read the TWAB that gave the date they ALSO stated the reason to why Friday. They're running it while they are working so they can combat any bugs that appear right away instead of the last few disastrous raid races. You also have plenty of time to put in personal/ vacation/ sick time for that day.

Edited by Astrosa: 7/31/2022 6:03:25 PMYes because it’s Friday everywhere Friday is an anomaly When it’s Friday somewhere it’s Friday everywhere We must Secure, Contain, and Protect people from this terrible menace

Exclusivity, fomo, controversy. Oh and Bungie hates their own customers/community. Not giving a shite and not posting about something you can't change anyway, probably the best move.

4 RepliesBungie’s actions here are absolutely insane to me. We are currently in a failing economy where middle class people have been beaten into poverty - depleting their saving & using up their vacation/sick leave just to make ends meet - and Bungie’s answer to abruptly changing the raid release precedence is tell their customers “We’ve gave you a month to call off work.” Even more insulting is that they’re doing it because they don’t want to have their employee’s schedule be altered. We had one raid have a messy launch and Bungie’s answer is to screw over their working class customers rather than just having their crew work one Saturday a season. Hahahaha. Geez.

Needs to be all weekend with normal option after 24. -
4 RepliesBecause it's a big world and not everyone lives your timezone

1 ReplyThe servers can't handle the extra load when it's on Saturday.... as evidenced by Vow's release.
-
2 RepliesI suspect it's because Bungie employees need to be working to ensure a fair race and working on a Saturday is just asking for too much, poor Bungie...

More hands on deck on Friday . Also it's 24 hours. If I was a Bungie employee I'd take the full shift -
If not can some supply a reason for moving contest mode raid to a friday?
Most Bungie employees work Monday to Friday. Launching the raid on a Friday means more employees will be on-site if something goes wrong.

You're a typo

5 RepliesNot a typo. They don’t want a repeat of what happened with vow. So if something happens again, they can fix it sooner.
