"only play 2-3 hours per day".
Is this a joke?
That's an enormous amount of time to dedicate to a game.

It is a good enough window to have time to collect a few shards. But as many shards as certain items cost, it can drain your shards more than you can collect them. But the best bet is to just farm engrams from any rep vendor, dismantle the unwanted gear, decode umbrals to then dismantle those as well, and to simply save up your shards unless there is an item you are interested in buying. -
I mean, just from farming and dismantling 99.9% of stuff while focusing for what I want, I still gain a hundred or so legendary shards a week. Now I’m at the point where my stockpile will go up even more. Net gain 2-3 thousand a season easily from playing a few hours each day. If I’m low on shards I’d just run crucible for awhile, break down the 1000000 riptides I’d get, plus all the rank up engrams. Though, I’ve only stockpiles almost 25k legendary shards without doing whatever duping thingy people keep mentioning.

That’ll do it too. Literally just farming engrams and worthless legendary gear to dismantle. Literally have been farming rumble this week to get my reps up high to just farm engrams. -

Just this week I reset my crucible ranks 5 times. With that, I did not claim the engrams from Shaxx, meaning I had about 152 engrams just sitting there. I was at 200 shards, after I was done dismantling 99% of those engrams I now have a little over 1K shards. So it is possible to farm this method even if you just have an hour of play time. -
That doesn't really fix the issue. Once you run low on shards or are a new player it is -blam!- how bad it is to buy anything bc of stupidly inflated shard costs .
