I don't get the point of this post since your suggested ranges for each archetype is what bungie already uses. The different sub archetypes are just a neat way to offer variety and there isn't enough difference in their range to push these sub archetypes into different ranges. For example precision frame HCs has a range around 18 meters while high impact HCs has a range around 25 meters. D1 also had sub archetypes as well just they didn't use these term back then. For instance atheons epilogue would have been a rapid fire frame while shadow price would have been a precision frame. The biggest problem isn't overlapping ranges but is encounter space sizes. D1 had much bigger areas so long range weapons were just as viable as close range weapons

  • I actually would love to see bigger, better maps that actually vary from the 3 lane setup they use. Every single map is essentially the same thing because of this. The new one, I actually feel is better than the rest. It gives alot of room, seems bigger, and actually has a good amount of variety between all ranges. It can be frustrating on rift, but I feel it is one of the best maps we have. Making more maps that are kind of their own environment instead of a basic lane setup, copy/paste, would be awesome, because I wholeheartedly agree it is entirely plausible the weapons are more balanced than they seem, and the environments are at least a good part of the issue.

  • Even in pve content most spaces feel small which is why smgs dominate as the ideal loadout.

  • Right. We need environment variety that really stands out match to match, I mean, at least until we get used to it, but it just feels SO stale because the current setup feels the same every game, despite the environments. Its still the best way to get deepsight weapon drops, but its painful.

  • And encounter design is what Bungie has stated will always be limited. They let that slip back during Reckonings day. They whined about having to do extra work to make it challenging because of how powerful we were at the time. So don’t expect this problem to ever be resolved.
