No. Dedicated servers are not the magical fix you think. I play games with dedicated servers and guess what I see players lagging all the time. Dedicated servers help but they can only compensate so far. And new players getting their butt's kicked has nothing to do with servers. We were all noobs at some point but we learned as they will learn.... unless they go into Trials and expect a easy win in a hard core pvp mode. Bungie has set the matchmaking system as to half skill and half connection based due to the simple fact that US THE COMMUNITY can not decide which one we want. Every time Bungie changes between skill and connection based matchmaking WE kick off about it and want it set the other way.

  • maybe im getting old but in my day with dedicated servers, if youre connection was that bad youd be the one falling out of the loby, not teleporting all around the map

  • If they are well tuned, tested and implemented then they can work. But with Bungle at the helm, I can almost guarantee they won't and they'd take years to fix them.

  • Dedicated servers will reduce most of the lag / latency issues... Don't shoot down the person's post because p2p is the worst system an online fps game could ever use. It will not be perfect but it will ensure things change for the better

I mean doesn't that tell you something? Real TCP/IP latency wouldn't always give one a competitive advantage but magically in Destiny 2, it helps one kill you...... When are you guys going to figure this out? You aren't seeing true "lag". You are seeing cheats. And dedicated servers aren't going to fix that. It's 2022. Everyone has crazy low-latency high speed Internet. If you think "lag" is all this common...I don't know what to say.

  • Did you ever shoot a laggy person and not only do you not get the kill but you also have 0 hit registration and while they survive, you die therefore it seems like they are getting the kills and dying less... Yes cheats exists but it's impossible for every laggy person to be using cheats. If that were the case, half the destiny population is cheating in some way...

No no no yours is an actual legitimate complaint I can get behind. This response is basically incorrect on every level.
