The problem is this is basically Bungie's asinine approach to trying to make "gold sinks" in the game. The only thing is, they messed up.
Players are being able to hoard Legendary shards for just about literally anything they do in the game. Players who have played alot will have had made alot. Bungie doesn't like their players hoarding resources, so they make things expensive to serve as a sort way to force players to spend their hoarded resources.
Where they messed up is that they don't give enough incentive to spend them to veterans. The players who HAVE a ton are most likely already satisfied with most of what they have and don't need to spend shards on anything. There is currently nothing in this game that is super worth spending shards on unless you're a newer player, in which case things are just too expensive.
tl;dr Bungie is trying to sell rich veterans stuff that only newer players can really value.

Edited by Noiztm: 7/18/2022 1:56:28 AM100 percent! I will never run out because I play/have played enough to not "need" much. I spend on what I need to when needed. Something that would make Clans useful, a material trade/donate system. It could/would be throttled to some extent but I for one would happily donate to my Clanmates if I could. I'd happily give you an Ascendent Shard if it meant my team was benefitting or h3ll, if it meant my fireteam mate could use what they wanted without "worry" or feeling like a burden....

For several seasons over the last year at the end of a season I've sat for hours pressing a button and running back and forth to the vault to turn in tokens. If most people knew how much time I'd spent doing that they would definitely think I'm a loser and so that just makes me even less likely to frivolously spend the shards I got from doing that. I think I've bought three IB smgs and like 5 or 6 sidearms from saint. And all I do is think about turning those tokens in every time I get ready to spend something and how a lot of people say the high prices are because of people that play a lot.
