Sure like, low population has nothing to do with zero content added to pvp, no loot incentive, horrible meta yet again, peer to peer lag being awful in 2022 when every other game has dedicated servers, too much time to address balance issues, lobby balancing causing many lopsided games, etc. It must just be the matchmaking that tries to give you a good connection. Yep.

If it was challenging they wouldn’t play. They wanna feel like they are better than others. They need validation in a game that literally nobody will remember in 30 years. There is a reason this is their pvp game and you hear the same old invalid arguments every time sbmm is brought up. “SBMM killed apex/CoD”. Yeah apex 10M a day player population and CoD modern warfare 2M, they are truly dead games because of SBMM. Vs destiny barely above 500K CBMM. Bungie will always cater to the top players. My advice, quit pvp. Download apex. In apex the best player in the world won’t win majority of games. U can be a brand new player, you could have never touched a controller in ur life and win the very first game u play. The connection is better despite it not being CBMM, only 24 hertz and free. Zero cheese, only 1 OHK weapon in the game that only drops twice per game with 10 bullets, no way to get more ammo, requires a crit and shoots slower than 2 jotünn shots. Literally every character is viable cause gun skill matters way more than abilities. Sure there is a “meta” but it’s more like “ur odds are slightly better if u use this legend” vs destiny ur actively hurting urself if u don’t play meta. Keep destiny for the pve but seriously drop the pvp and download apex, it’s leagues better and it’s free. There is a reason why it has 10M players a day and it’s not because it’s free, with that logic warzone would have millions of players but ironically it has around the same as destiny.

  • There's variance. You run PvE content instead it's the same enemies, in the same spot, doing the same things. It's stale

  • https://imgur.com/a/cUcOt3X Whole game my team had 2 zones minimum and about 4 power plays and never once in the whole game did the enemy get a 6th player, the whole game was 5V6 and despite the overall zone advantage and the team being down a man, still lost by a relatively large margin. It’s the matchmaking and nothing else that’s killing the game for me. I’ve got hundreds of games like this saved with over 30 from this season alone. Despite the fact that I’ve only played around 200 matches. Significantly lower from my 1500 ish a season. As a pvp main. Top 0.01% of games played. Top 0.1% of kills, deaths and assists. Pvp has become trash since CBMM. Go look at ur game history right now in destiny tracker and I’m willing to bet all the money in my wallet the winning team almost always had a 70% or greater chance of winning. The current system if ur not a top 1% player u don’t matter. Leave the game and the result will be unchanged. No matter how hard you try or if u just sit in the back the winner is pre determine. That match I just posted could have been 4v6 and my team would have still lost. That’s not a meta or content problem. That’s a matchmaking problem.

Cool now the same 4 players are whipping both teams and are the only players that matter. Everyone is just kill fodder so we can see who’s top 2 players can kill faster. Oh doesn’t sound fun? U can quit, since u being in the game literally doesn’t matter. Thank goodness the lobby is balanced tho.

    Yes it is lobby balancing. It puts the best player with 5 of the worst, which leads to that team losing. So your "Go look at ur game history right now in destiny tracker and I’m willing to bet all the money in my wallet the winning team almost always had a 70% or greater chance of winning" is directly related to the fact that the broken lobby balancing is putting 5 of the worst players on the same team, giving them only a 30% chance of winning. If the lobby was balancing better, such as a snake draft, we wouldn't have so many lopsided matches, but Bungie is ignoring this and leaving it in the horribly broken state that it's in. What they should do is get rid of the lobby balancing entirely, and make it completely random, because it's clear whatever algorithm they have in place is ruining the game.

True lobby balancing for iron banner and the games were so grossly 1 sided they disabled it after a couple days. Game was unplayable cause every single game was a mercy. Truce chaos, what u want, would statistically guarantee one team will have majority of the better players. Congrats same problem just on the other side of the fence.

  • Barely any games at all have dedicated servers dude. The handful of AAA games that do, aren’t even using genuine dedicated servers half the time.

    Do your research. Even indie games out there use dedicated servers. Peer to peer is prehistoric garbage in 2022.

  • Irrelevant. They are using them. Meanwhile, we have Destiny in 2022, a triple A game that makes millions from microtransactions alone, and sells everything under the umbrella, and they are using prehistoric peer to peer from 2007/2008.

    I’m a concept artist that works primarily on games, regardless, I have access to the internet. It’s easy to see how much it costs to build a dedicated server, and all of its hubs. Each hub can cost 400-500k+ and that was pre pandemic, those prices would have easily doubled by now. You’ll need 10-20 in the US alone. And the end result, is completely lost on the majority of casual gamers who can’t even tell the difference between p2p and dedicated servers. It’s a huge expense, that only makes a difference for a tiny percentage of players.

Bungie isn’t gonna spend millions for 500K players. Everyone knows that a bad investment. Especially since those 500K have already demonstrated that they will continue to play the game with the p2p. We went for what? 3 years without a new map and when we finally got one it’s the most hated map I’ve ever seen. The meta has remained unchanged for 4 years now. A new game mode that is unpolished and hated. Number of iron banners per season dropped. Ranked is a joke. No real rewards. That’s not even going into the lack of matchmaking, amount of cheese and everything else. Yeah they would need a destiny 3 to bring back players who have been burned by pvp and left for significantly better games and experiences. Doesn’t matter what they announce or what promises they make in future expansions. As long as “destiny 2” is the name attached, ppl wont trust it.
