When I launch Destiny 2 from the Steam launcher, the game crashes a few seconds after the loading screen where you press Enter to play. There is an error box that flashes briefly on the screen and disappears. (It was difficult to capture it because it does not stay on the screen.) The error box says, "Problem reading game content. File verification may be required. For more information, visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: marmot"
Searching for the error code just gives instructions for verifying the game files through the Steam launcher. I already completed this operation, and I even uninstalled and re-installed the whole game but I still get the same error.
Following the instructions to delete all the local game files except the packages folder resulted in the game doing its own file verification operation upon launch, which it completes and just exits.
Update: After the above, the game did launch as expected. But there remains the question of why two direct installs through the Steam launcher did not result in a playable game. There is obviously a issue there that needs to be fixed.
Next Update: The game crashes on the loading screen between the Director and the actual game part.
