All things Guardian Lore (most powerful class/Subclasses)

Hunter

Warlock

Titan

So I've recently got back into destiny (missed a ton of lore) and as I got absolutely dumpster on by a team of Titans in Control like a team of 7-year-olds fighting Gregor Clegane The Mountain I thought to myself which Guardian Class Lore Wise and Canonically is the stronger class? I am sure this topic has been answered to death, But I still like to know what people view, While I am a Hunter Main by heart I can't seem to help realize that most people say Titans are the powerhouses, the alphas (lore-wise they built the walls of the city) and Warlocks who can master their curiosity/pursuit of knowledge may unlock the limitless potential. Is it based on individual merit or do some classes naturally breed stronger famous guardians? Second, Since I know its gameplay-wise that we can use every subclass/ guardian class etc But are we the only guardian, lore-wise/canonical who can use and master all the subclasses (since we are the most powerful Guardian apparently) or do all Guardians have a chance to master 3 subclasses 4 (if we include Stasis) or even 5 and the rarity of that happening? Can Guardians also use abilities from other classes if they find the opportunity/capability to wield it? a Hunter casting Nova Bomb Warlock using Stasis Shurikens etc

  • There really isn’t a “stronger” class. It all depends on the skill of the Guardian. Saint-14, Felwinter, Shin Malphur are examples of just being good cuz they got skill. So it just depends on the Guardian.
Is it based on individual merit or do some classes naturally breed stronger famous guardians?
Individual. Osiris is the most powerful Guardian (not counting the Player Guardian of course) yet Saint-14 is a close second. Arguably stronger in some respects due to inherent differences. The reason classes exist is because one class isn't definitely better than the others, all are suited to different situations and are supposed to complement each other.
Using multiple subclasses isn't unheard of. While i don't think all Guardians have access to all subclasses, i think a majority have access to more than one. A vast majority of Guardians do have Stasis. Felwinter was a Warlock, yet he learned how to Shoulder Charge.

  • Any Guardian can theoretically use any Light based ability, but they were divvied up into three main classes based off of how they were attuned to their Light; that said, Void 3.0 teases this with every class getting access to every void grenade type. That said, as far as continuity goes, Warlocks in particular are generally busted when it comes to using the Light because they have significantly more creativity and control over it. They have pocket nukes, the ability to float and make even large areas float (such as the EAZ), self-resurrection without direct aid of a ghost, able to conjur one-handed Kamehamehas, provide healing and empowerments on demand, and much more. Titans and Hunters have their own respective feats too though, so I wouldn't count them out in terms of power or cunning.

  • As far as I know, the light and darkness can do whatever it or the user wants. I assume the subclasses are just the most popular uses with some outliers like the Iron Lords’ solar axes and the ranged stasis attack Elsie Bray used in her first appearance in Beyond Light.

I wouldn’t call us the most powerful by a long shot. And the usage of multiple elements really isn’t special either. There seem to be obvious preferences but there have been many cases of lightbearers using multiple things.
