As a diehard fan of the Metroid series but more specifically the Prime trilogy; its a no brainer for me, especially since I already own a Nintendo Switch.
The development delay for it actually doesn’t worry me at all, in my opinion, I think Nintendo is trying to make sure this isn’t a -blam!- up considering every Metroid game released since Prime 3 (with exception to Samus Returns, but it IS a remake of M2) has been met with little to no enthusiasm by the fan base. I also respect Nintendo for having the balls to come forward and say “we don’t like how this is going along and feel like you guys won’t either”. The inclusion of Retro Studios back into the project has me very excited as well, given that they’ve gone from strength to strength since the Trilogy with DK country.
Anyways, what about you guys? Are you interested in Prime 4 and will you buy it or not?

13 RepliesI want to say yes but the real answer is... kind of. I'm a massive fan of 2D Metroid. I want to be a massive fan of Metroid Prime but I haven't been able to play those games because of the forced motion controls. If Metroid Prime 4 has traditional controls and/or the motion controls are purely optional, it will be a day one buy. If it has forced motion controls... I probably won't bother. Depends if it's motion controls like Luigi's Mansion 3DS (which I can deal with enough to finish the game) or motion controls like Pokémon Let's Go (or as I like to call it, Pokémon Let's Get the Hell Away).

Never really played them but metroid seems like a pretty cool guy to play as, with the turning into a ball and rockets and stuff.

2 RepliesMetroid Prime was my first fps, and I enjoyed all three in the series (not counting hunters, I've never owned a ds). I don't have a Switch yet, but MP4 is one of the main reasons I plan on getting one

I haven't played Metroid since the NES original or owned a Nontendo in a long time, so no. My sons likely will though.

7 RepliesI’m gonna wait to see if it’s a Metroidvania or not. You would think with “Metroid” being part of the genre title that’d be certain, but Metroid kinda likes jumping back & forth.

I'll check it out first before buying...but I am very excited to play a Metroid Prime game on the switch.

Ninetindo 2020: Metroid Prime 4 will be an open-world RPG with a completely free to play battle royale. Customize your very own bounty hunter and team up with Samus to kill a hundred billion Metroids for no apperent reason.
actually, though, if there is any AAA developer/publisher i trust the most to deliver a good game, it's Nintendo. Yeah, they can usually go over board and take way too much time, but, unlike every other developer, they aren't worried about deadlines and cash cows
3 RepliesI am, but I'm honestly wondering if its worth it at this point. It's now been more than ten years since MP3, the current Retro dev team is almost all new with very few series vets, and that's after they were told to start the project over from scratch after the "extremely talented" first team apparently failed so hard that Nintendo scrapped the whole thing. The negative rumors surrounding Retro don't help. The fact that Nintendo is transparent about the delay shows that they are at least aware that fans are watching closely, and that a quality product requires quality time. But damn, that time.

1 Reply... Metroid is the game with Samus right?...
not included in the DLC
1 ReplyIt’s one of my most anticipated games and one of the main reasons I bought a switch. The Metroid prime trilogy are some of my favorite games of all time. Was pretty disappointed when it got delayed. Hopefully it will be good.

3 RepliesEdited by JoeCraft01: 12/6/2019 11:31:12 PMI remember watching my little brother not even getting through the tutorial of the first metroid prime because he was too scared and it was the same for me as well at the time. The few times he got through, he would get demolished by turrets because he wasted his missiles at the start. We didn't have anything to save progress on (or at least that we knew of, I was 5 then) so he had to start from scratch everytime.

Edited by Seraph: 12/6/2019 11:35:08 PMDepends. I consider myself to be a Metroid fan, but the series has a fairly mixed track record. As for the Prime games, I loved the first, I thought the second was okay, and I hated the third ( I despise motion controls ), so I’m a little bit worried about the prospects of a 4th game. I’ve also lost faith in series director Yoshio Sakamoto. In recent years, he seems to be obsessed with taking the series in a completely different direction to what the fan base wants.

1 ReplyDon’t scare me like that! I thought it got delayed again. I’m fine with it. I’m actually more happy because Retro is making it.

1 ReplyI’m definitely going to get it. I’ve never played a Metroid Prime game, but I’ve only heard good things about the series. Also, based on what I’ve seen, they certainly look like they deserve the praise they get

1 ReplyI've never cared for the Metroid games, so probably not.

1 ReplyI didn't play Metroid Prime for the first time until this year and I loved it so much. I wish I played it as a kid. I'm excited for Metroid Prime 4 and I hope to god they get the same composer to come back that did the soundtrack for the first game. Metroid Prime's music is so beautiful and amazing. Also one little detail I loved about the game is whenever you'd get hit with a bright flash of light, you could see Samus' face reflection on her visor and she'd blink and react to the light too. That blew my mind whenever I first saw that.

1 ReplyEnjoyed all of the prime series as a kid so it's a bit of a must for me.
