Proceeds to add contest mode to dungeons... artificial difficulty YAYYYYY. Lazy and not needed.

It's just a desperation effort to get their streamer marketing team to not abandon them and get some cheap views to hopefully drum up interest in the game. It will not work.

Since there seems to be some (purposeful?) confusion in this thread about the definition of "artificial difficulty" and how the term is used... when some of us say artificial difficulty we mean any time the game picks or heavily influences winners and losers based on preexisting stats. So yes, since its a videogame, there's always artificial difficulty, but that is no excuse for when it becomes so egregious that it causes people to quit or not want to play. What ends up happening when that happens is people will not want to play and some or most of the reasons for why might be getting ignored. So it doesn't help to try to negate the term or make it meaningless by smothering it in a bunch of false equivalencies when that's what artificial difficulty is to begin with, a bunch of false equivalencies run amok and going unchecked. Since it picks or influences winners and losers across the whole skill spectrum its also not really something that's done for top tier players. Its generally done for the kinds of people that are always wondering why enough people aren't concerned with what activities they can't or simply don't want to do. And when its bad it takes people that are worse at the game and makes them more able or as able as others to complete things. Which wouldn't be bad if it didn't involve stealing.

18 completed dungeons. Of course you wont want a contest mode, theyre already too hard for you. You dont play dungeons so why have an opinion.

1 ReplyTo be fair, this sad community calls everything artificial difficulty. Raising the difficulty by increasing health and damage of enemies like it's traditionally done in video games. Artificial difficulty. Make an encounter be based around mechanics instead of killing adds. Artificial difficulty. Have adds spawn when fighting a boss. Artificial difficulty. Have you play with people. Artificial difficulty Having to jump. Artificial difficulty. Timer. Artificial difficulty. Equipping a special weapon. Artificial difficulty. The possibility of failing an encounter. Artificial difficulty. That term has lost all meaning, if it ever had one to begin with. More on topic. I don't think a very limited timed contest mode is a big deal. It'll be over in a blink of an eye. Realistically speaking, unless they add revive tokens, this contest mode is going to just be a Master dungeon which would be easily doable, at least easier than raid contest. This is complaining for the sake of complaining at this point.

1 ReplyIdk I really don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s a good place for the best of the best most cracked speed runners to flex their skills in a more unique challenge. After all. Not everyone has to take part but at least the really optimised teams will have a competition. It’s also kind of unique since usually day ones are for six people.
