Bungie dev team convenes…
“Which stats should we show the players, in the post game lobby?”
The junior dev looks around, nervous. At last, he replied. “What about… all of them?”
*silence from the team, then… “You’re fired. Any other suggestions?”
A slight figure emerged from the corner of the room, more confident. “What about their K/D? Surely, people playing a shooter want to see that?”.
He glanced around, sensing his impending termination. Quickly, he gave a laugh - “Kidding! Only kidding, of course!”
Thinking he had nothing else to lose, he added “What about the number of turrets they destroyed?”
The whole room erupted into a cacophony of applause, and his name was written into the annals of history.

Put KDA in modes where kills are worth points. Don't worry about putting KDA in matches where kills are not worth points. Kills aren't worth points in Fortress, so KDA is irrelevent. Seems pretty simple to me....

Lol but the objective is what wins the match. I take my fireteam into iron banner and dont even shoot my guns. i only cap zones because thats what the forums told me wins matches.

12 RepliesIf I can run the entire match playing the objectives and kill 0 . Then yea, kd is irrelevant!

1 ReplyBecause it's zone control , kills don't contribute to the score , thus not important, capping zones are what's important, if you cap a zone and defend a zone , you are contributing to the score, if you kill someone one , the score doesn't change Lol people so used to playing 1 way, can't think beyond KD, it's sad really

My playstyle is to distract the other team by constantly letting them kill me while my teammates cap zones. Works every time.

2 RepliesAt the end of the day, this is primarily a PVE game after all.

They are right not to include stats, I’d like to see them Phase them out entirely….it’s a pve game and stats can be demoralising for some of the playerbase… it also leads to toxic elitism as we have seen on here for years -
16 RepliesEdited by jmann43b: 9/12/2024 10:04:40 PMThis is pretty good except...........it's Iron Banner; who actually gives a sniff? The only thing that makes any difference are the numbers that follow the 'W' and the 'L.'

I wish they upped the radius for the Zones Defended and Zones Attacked stats. So that kills within say 10m of the zone’s boundaries would count. Because the current system of “they gotta be actively on the point” doesn’t encapsulate what defense of offense in the mode is like. That way it shows how effective you were at punching through to those zones. Still rewards you for being good at the game but doesn’t remove the focus from the objective :)

On the plus side, it's an attempt to fit the stats to how succesfully a team played the objective. Yeah they could have swapped turrets for K/D, but it's better than when the mode was always Control and some genius replaced Zones capped stat with one relating to "The Hunt" so that the primary objective was not visible post-game

1 ReplyI always appreciated the multiple stats they displayed in the original Halo games, including K/D, how many average seconds you survived, and who killed who the most. But I appreciated the very detailed stats that they showed in the original Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2 even more. Seeing who was considered "Bantha fodder" was hilarious, and who the Camper was each match was informative.

Funny. Very funny. I mean... it was funny wouldn't it be true.

‘Hilarious’….
