Some people join clans or run with friends. Then again, after everything with Dual Destiny maybe a lot of people just run solo-able activities.

 •
after everything with Dual Destiny maybe a lot of people just run solo-able activities.
Have you ever looked at a population breakdown on warmind? More people are in patrol than every other activity. Always. Normal/"casual" people play alone. Dual destiny should have been the microcosm mission, and the exotic class item should have dropped from legendary campaign completion. Rahool has new exotics instead of lost sectors so it was pointless for the campaign to drop the other armor pieces. That way normal people could finish the campaign and go right to pale heart patrols for farming. Instead they just decided to lock the solo patrol farmable class item behind a 2man mission. The upset from players is warranted since the class item works with the new subclass, which was unlocked during the story. Dropping it in with finishing the legendary campaign would have been completely reasonable.

 • Define "normal people."

 •
Define "normal people."
People who aren't exploited by this game's predatory codependency manipulative design.

 • Players that enjoy the game aren't victims, those who have tantrums because the game doesn't cater to their every demand and expectation are unwilling to accept the fact that they aren't the only ones playing it.

 • FFXIV caters to solo players as well as players who want to play together. When it comes to story beats that ask the player to join a 4 man dungeon it also gives them the option to use NPC players that have been with them through the story to accompany them in the dungeon if they want so they can immediately get through that dungeon to continue the story and to progress. I know that they are widely different in gameplay but that shows a developer that honors the solo player and the multiplayer versus a developer that is forcing multiplayer interaction for people who do not wish to interact with other players every time they need to progress their character.

 • You're right, Square Enix is awesome and care so much about their player base while Bungie will surely burn in fiery damnation for all of eternity because of their senseless disregard of solo players. I'm so glad we did this, thank you for the catharsis. 👍

 • Anytime buddy guardian. I wish the devs from my country would learn a lesson or two from the developers across the pond. They know there are players who want to experience the content and find ways to cater to them despite what the game asks and yet they still do it. For me who has been so deep in these kinds of games for so long, MC raid leader here, to find a developer who wants players of all kinds really hits home when I don't want to group up and just want to solo play.

 • Exactly and it’s absurd to shape a narrative that way. You and I along with hundreds of thousands of other players enjoy the game. It’s normal to spend money and time on a hobby that’s enjoyable. It’s abnormal to knowingly spend money or time on something that makes you miserable. Lol this is fundamental stuff and it’s hysterical the efforts some on these forums go to with arguing it’s not. You can’t fix that type of dysfunctional thinking.

 • Hello again my favorite. I have come to disrupt your logic, yet again. The fact that this dev forces multiplayer interaction on players who want to solo is not healthy for a game. When people pay for a service, expecting that they will get everything that is offered, if they work at it, despite the fact that some ask for group activity without offering a solo option can end up killing a game.

Millions of people used to enjoy this game, then woke up to realize it's design is anti player friendly. I haven't ever said the game makes me miserable, but keep making up whatever you want to always be the bdf hero. Real dysfunctional thinking is thinking that you know everything.

 •
Players that enjoy the game aren't victims
In a sense they are.
those who have tantrums because the game doesn't cater to their every demand and expectation are unwilling to accept the fact that they aren't the only ones playing it.
They are too. I wouldn't call disagreeing with locking a solo-farmable item behind a 2 player mission a "tantrum". I've done the mission on all 3 characters and I still think it was a horrible decision that the class item didn't drop from the campaign that unlocked the only subclass it works with.

 • No they’re not and it’s an absurd statement. You can make that Strawman argument about anything in life and it doesn’t ever hold water. I spend my money on the game because I enjoy it. If I’m really enjoying it, I’ll even spend money in the shop to grab ornaments I like. I did exactly that in FS because it was that good of an experience.

 • Spending money on a game you like is fine. There is no strawman argument however. If anything calling something a strawman argument when it isn't is a strawman in a sense.

 • I didn't say that you specifically threw a tantrum but surely you can't deny that it's been a rampant occurrence, and not just when it comes to Dual Destiny; it's been an ongoing issue for quite some time. And "in a sense" is hardly a validation of your take on this game considering that "predatory, codependency, manipulative design" isn't a Bungie exclusive. It's everywhere around us on a daily basis, right down to the color scheme of fast-food restaurant signage.

 • I don't want to go into the psychology of predatory gaming but what you just talked about is something way more nuanced that just a color scheme off fast food signage or anything else that is encountered on a "daily basis" in our day to day lives. Your argument is lacking if that is what you're using as a general base.

 • Just like Tracy Jordan from 30 Rock said, "Now I don't want to go on a rant here..." only to not. Clearly you aren't level headed at the moment to discuss.

 • My head is as level as it gets, that is far from the issue. I simply have no interest in engaging in this line of discussion because I see it going nowhere.

 • Then why reply? If level headed you be then one should be able to pull away from it. I am not one to hide away from replies. When I am done I will say I am done, though I am not done, but you clearly seem to have a horse in this race so, what do now?

Right, but in this context of dual destiny not being popular and well received, it's no surprise as it was a bad decision. The mission wasn't hard, but it would have been better used as the microcosm acquisition mission, after completing the mandatory co-op story missions. The people were right to be upset about the class item and the drop in players reflects that. It's been a steady drop for years due to questionable executive decision. Not everyone throws tantrums online, they just keep quitting.
