…why are D1 servers still running? Curious.
D2 won't shut down - there just won't be any new updates...D1 still makes money through Eververse... It's like abandonware...

Edited by JazzyPaladin477: 2/14/2026 2:45:19 PMI think zombie D1 will outlive D2 in its current state. It’s a far better buy for a new player.

It's a boxed product game, still available for sale in digital stores, even if bungie dissapear Sony need to keep that game running for a set amount of time from the date it's removed from the stores. D2 is live service & can disappear at any time. They added this to all D2 content on digital stores with lightfall, which really tells you were they're at regarding year to year & backs up what ex cm lianna said on twitter that it's disgusting how management wanted & instructed for D2 to end with lightfall. Bungie, Inc. makes no guarantee regarding the availability of online play or features and may modify or discontinue online services without notice at any time. Using the software constitutes acceptance of the Destiny Software License Agreement available at www.bungie.net/sla. The fact lightfall succeeded & allowed Sony to push for another year & final shape, scuppered escape plans by causing 2 marathon delays & the mess everything turned into.

Shhhh, Bungie forgot to turn them off.

Because the tower is full in the D1 tower.

2 RepliesD1 and D2 servers are plugged into the same power strip. If they take down D1, they take down both.

Maintenance mode on a console only game is as alive as current D2

2 RepliesBetter question: When the plug really is pulled, what will the "End is Nigh!!!" people do? Personally, I feel sorry for the game forum that inherits those people because they'll have to go somewhere.
