Two of the biggest problems being a Guardian…
1) We absolutely love Destiny, and many of us play little else; and,
2) We truly believe that with the right leadership, and creative inspiration and technological innovation, Destiny can fulfil its full potential, and be one of the true G.O.A.T. games in the Gaming Pantheon.
The problem is - We are virtually alone in this, as BHQ - way back from D1Y1, and now Sony and their $3.2billion 🍋 …aren’t cutting the mustard.
Sony / BHQs abysmal engagement with this loyal community of patient customers, that many SMEs would bend over backwards to nurture, beggars belief?!
Will Marathon be their ‘Ratner’ moment? 🧐
Gerald Ratner, head of a flourishing jewellery store empire in the UK and USA, lost the lot in one off- the-cuff remark he made in a speech at the Institute of Directors in 1991.
His overnight fall from grace was spectacular. His previously loyal customer base evaporated virtually just as fast. They’d taken his comment at face value…and pushed back in spectacular fashion.
‘Over-delivery’ - is another questionable comment that’s upset a lot of us Customers, too!🧐
And it’s working as intended…it seems?!
Go figure?!
FWIW: if the Steam Game Cube is priced reasonably, this old tortoise will be gone!
That is all.

Do you have any idea what the context was for the "over delivery" quote? Or are you just hopping on the bandwagon? I'm confused by the idea that Bungie has been failing since "D1Y1" to provide some kind of mythical perfect product. And that there's some equally mythical entity that could. Of course I guess you'd have to decide just who's version of perfect we're using. Here's another concept often reacted to through the lens of stupidity. Making games is hard. And keeping a game world going for more than a decade is nigh on impossible. People need to get over the idea that there is a idealized version of Destiny out there somewhere that just needs the right captain to sail it into your lives. Bungie is not your daddy who went to get cigarettes and never came back. People need to get over themselves. https://share.google/3evboQZZKd6M2yBkm

Defending the truth and rational thought is not defending Bungie. Ad hominem attacks are the resort of those with nothing left to say.

lol No ad hominem attack from me! Although, your '...through the lens of stupidity'...'Bungie is not your Daddy...'., - whose gone and left you (paraphrase)'...etc., could be construed as such?! The context of 'Over-delivery' was as per my explanation of the 'Ratner' moment, and how, one seemingly silly statement caused a whole business empire to collapse, virtually overnight. That is all, nothing more. I don't know your gaming history, however, for me, the Sunset debacle was when the 'space magic' evaporated out of Destiny, along with so many players, that virtually overnight, one's Friends List of several pages emptied, as players voted with their feet. During The Taken King 1.0 - I was a bubble Titan with ToM, and helped quite a few Guardians complete the raid, and, close the MoT yearbook. Then, they nerfed ToM, which was a rare weapon to have in those times, and then came the Sunset debacle. Shortly thereafter, I left and became a Tenno (MR 24) and had a 'whale' of a time. After that, I returned to Destiny's shores, only this time, my engagement with the game would be very different, and it is. I thoroughly enjoyed the 12-man final mission...and, for me, the 10-year compact was done! Yet, I hung around, mostly because, Destiny is the only game that I actually tend to play...even though I hardly do much of anything in it whatsoever, i.e., no raids or dungeons or crazy RNG nonsense. The video link you provided: I watched it, had seen clips of it before, though never watched the whole vid. Thanks for that, am slowly working my way through it. Ever since D1Y1, the missteps and questionable activities of BHQ Management are well known...the continuiing results of which, are where we are today: dwindling player numbers, player apathy writ large, glitches galore, Radio Silence, P2P, F2P, Cheats, bugs unfixed, bugs at ever turn, each 'fix' brings new bugs without fail, cue <crickets>...etc...etc... Is that context enough for you? That is all. Ease Springs!

Edited by jmann43b: 2/7/2026 1:46:56 AMIf you'll indulge me in a hypothetical scenario, suppose the "Sunset debacle" didn't happen. Where would you imagine the game be today as it regards to the "dwindling player numbers, player apathy writ large, glitches galore....." etcetera and so forth; think things would GENUINELY be better or is that what so many tell themselves because they have nothing else to blame for the fact that a long-running game is simply on the decline? And with no offense intended but in need of being addressed, so are those players?

I’d rather Destiny survive / thrive than not, though my minuscule input to such revolves around my wallet / feet. Do I believe it’s possible? Yes! Given the current, continued Radio Silence / state of the bug ridden game / player decline / pending Marathon launch, do I think it’s likely? I don’t know!? 🫤 Anyhoo, as I tend to only play Destiny - albeit at a very ‘vanilla’ level, Game Cube might serve me well; escape from ps5 / hello PC + Steam’s Game Library. That is all. Cheers! 🖖👻
