I’m creating a new post because this issue is still occurring after multiple weekly resets and after Destiny 2 Update 9.5.0.5 (Jan 13, 2026).
Issue Summary:
The Praxic Blade – Hyperblade catalyst remains unobtainable for my account due to an apparent soft-lock in the Fire and Ice exotic mission.
What happened originally (Dec 9):
On my first successful run of Fire and Ice:
I completed the required mechanic (shot all four nodes)
Received the message: “Something shifts within the Praxic Vault”
No timer appeared
Mission completed on Legendary
Hyperblade case did NOT spawn in the vault
Since then:
I have run the mission every weekly reset
Difficulty is always Legendary
Mechanics followed correctly
In some runs:
The timer appears
In other runs:
The timer still does not start
Regardless of outcome:
The Hyperblade case never spawns
This strongly suggests the initial run (where the timer failed to start) soft-locked the catalyst acquisition, and the game now treats the catalyst as “consumed” or completed without actually granting the reward.
Important context:
Bungie previously responded that this issue was known and under investigation
Update 9.5.0.5 fixed Praxic Blade perk activation, but did not address catalyst acquisition
The issue persists post-patch
Questions that need clarification:
Is the Hyperblade catalyst currently unobtainable for accounts affected by this bug?
Is Fire and Ice safe or worth running for the catalyst at this time?
Is there an upcoming fix specifically targeting:
The Praxic Vault
The missing timer
Catalyst spawn conditions?
I would really like to experience Praxic Blade at its full intended potential, but repeatedly running content that appears broken has become discouraging. At this point, I’m looking for confirmation, guidance, or transparency on whether this is actively being fixed and whether affected players need to wait.
Thank you.

1 ReplyOut of curiosity, have you ran it with someone else and had them do the mechanics for both the Hyperblade and Upperhand catalysts on the chance that will work? Bungie mentioned it was fixed in a previous update and it does look to be, but it might be worth doing that if you haven't already - feel free to DM if you need someone for it; I'm happy to do a quick no mic run.
