Bungie, seriously, you had a real opportunity to make a good expansion here, and a lot of the design decisions made were just, awful. Whose brilliant idea was it to have no health regen in the lawless frontier? This makes certain builds and playstyles so much more powerful than others (builds with inherent health regen) and makes other builds not worth even messing with. Also, whose great idea was it to take the most hated part (invading) of the most hated game mode (Gambit) and use that in the new activity? Do you people seriously know nothing about your own game? Nobody wants this! It's stupid! The campaign was incredibly meh and cliche, although I've come to expect that since after Taken King. The factions are cool but the long -blam!- game modes we are forced to play as the only way to level them up are boring AF. Also, timegating the quest line requiring a reset of the priority order the next day was also incredibly stupid. I'm pretty sure this is the first expansion that I've played for only about 1 day and already don't really want to play again - the mechanic of having no health regen completely sucks the fun out of the mode for me.

TTK fixed what was broken and brought the player base back, ROI retained us and gave us hope, then they made the exact same mistakes in early D2 that were made in early D1. The difference this time is that there isn’t an ROI coming to save the game, and everything they put into the game is progressively worse and more contrived. A sad death by a thousand cuts for what could have continued to be a great franchise had they learned from their mistakes in D1.
